What Have You Done To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Gave it a bath and drove it for the first time in over 2 weeks. Drove a whopping 6/10 of a mile round trip to my inlaws in the same neighborhood. Felt good to get behind the wheel.

 

Finally installed the bedside molle panel from Victory Off-road and mounted the homemade power tank. I am not sure if I like the way the the quick fists are holding it so I might make something a little sturdier later down the road. Anyone else have suggestions or done anything of the sort?

 

This one thing really changed the overall feel of the interior. I linked to where I got the shift knob and the shift collar boot below. How about a pair of ratcheting QwikFists?
OR modify a pair of ratcheting cargo straps.
Harbour Freight probably has ratcheting straps for cheap.

 

Probably as stable as The Laugh-In’s tricycle.

 

Got a serious detail done, no more pinstripes.....at least until next time I’m off-road . Love the way the paint feels after a good wax, like butter.

 

Me too...here's a tip for anyone else planning to do this. Don't start with the driver's door, the first one is the trickiest.

 

Washed it today, then it ended up sprinkling randomly a few hours later.

 

Got my one year Ceramic Pro refresh. Also (over the weekend) finally mounted my radar detector to the GoPro mount and hard wired it with hidden wire. I’ve been meaning to do that one for a while now.

 

Did the A/C drip hose fix and added a Pedal Commander!

So, yes they ARE Toyota OE parts. PT212-35053. I suppose that they are as functional as any. I use them as an assist every time I get in/out of the truck. It took me a few times to figure out how to best use them. I do not fully stand up on them. It's hard to explain.

I'm not as nimble as I once was. Ideally the truck would be easier to get in/out if it was about 2-3 niches lower. These steps make that a non-issue for me.

 

DANGER DANGER !! Do NOT use a CO2 tank in a horizontal position. VERY bad things can happen!

 

You can also just wrap it. It's actually surprisingly easy.

Things I finished up recently.

Cleaned up the engine bay.

Forgot the weather cowl...

Installed Kickers CS fronts and KS rears.
Mounting adapters with Homedepot weather gasket...


Switch out the MBRP for a Borla muffler.
With no rear cats, the MBRP was way too raspy at 3k-4k.


Short drive with the Borla.
Dashcam audio, so might not be 100% accurate.

But really
Pressure washed,
Used a Ryobi 1600, which I snagged on clearance for $79.
Used CarPro's Reset on a foam cannon, then a brush for smaller crevices.

Rinse

Ech0 Waterless wash, Eraser, then dress with Elixer/Reload or another Ceramic base coating.
*Spray on a microfiber towel to prevent getting it on Unwanted areas.


Ceramic coatings are pretty good at restoring trim and plastic with out the worry of dripping or slinging like usual dressings.

I'll use TarX or IronX sometimes for grease/oil splatters or rust.

I have had my new Tacoma for 3 months now and the main thing that bugs me is how it does not drive like my 2008 Tacoma did. Engine and transmission wise that is. I am finding out I am in need of a Pedal Commander to take care of the issue. One will be on order very soon. How do you like yours? Have you settled in on a setting?
