Sounds like a decent plan to me.

Morning gents. Things are getting pretty thin here at work, not super stoked on this.

Only reason I ask is because I've always been a Craftsman guy and lately I've been noticing that their tools are less reliable. I feel like the quality is not the same anymore. I've purchased a few wobble socket extensions in the past 2-3 months and each have broken on the first try.

Not sure if the manufacturing process for Craftsman has changed.

It's been many years since Craftsman was what they built their reputation on. When they stopped producing their products in the US and farmed them out to China, it all started to go down hill.

Yeah, I remember when they made the switch to China. I think the last decent tool I have bought from Craftsman has been my 1/2 inch ratchet which I purchased about 6-7 years ago.

I've been debating making the switch to Cornwell or MAC tools for some time now.

I had no clue. I wonder when the new plant will begin operations. This is really close to where I live. That whole area has expanded like crazy during the 3 years I've lived here.

Yeah....we are getting next week off. They were so nice to give us the option to use our PTO, or have the great state of Texas pay for it.

Good deal. He does great work and is fast. I dropped my rack off during lunch on Thursday and he called Friday afternoon to tell me it was ready.

Do a little research and sometimes you can find who makes the tools for the tool truck brands.

    Example:

Matco 7 pc Screwdriver Set $178.65
    https://www.matcotools.com/catalog/product/SSPTR7C/7-PIECE-TOP-TORQUE-II-RED-TORX-SCREWDRIVER-SET/

They are made by Witte in Germany

Witte 6 pc Screwdriver Set $50.99
    https://www.amazon.com/653831-Maxxp...=1586870714&sprefix=witte+scre,aps,162&sr=8-2

Same tool, buying it with one less piece is worth the $128 in savings to me. And I own the Matco set. Lol.

This one is probably 7+ years old. I'm disappointed that I broke it. :pout:

LOL that is good to know. Do you purchase your Matco tools off a truck or online?

I always bought on the truck but I was wrenching for a living. Now mostly if I buy a tool I order online. For regular hand tools ive had really good luck with Husky brand if I need something without the time to order it.

Dumb question: how do we find out who makes what? Obvi Stanley/B&D/Craftsman are all the same.
