    I've heard a lot of people say this. Does anyone know why short trips are bad for vehicles?

    I've heard a lot of back-and-forth on this subject. I also read the "Truth about Spark Plugs" thread. Has there been some sort of consensus reached on iridium plugs? Extending maintenance intervals, where possible, is my kink.

    On short trips the vehicle (oil, fluids, exhaust) does not get hot enough to drive off water and volatiles, resulting in a build up of water and acids etc.

    I can vouch for that. My work truck barely runs for 5 min going between buildings for maintanence and it had a new motor before 70,000 miles. It’s close to 90,000 now and the new motor already has a strong tick to it.

    Aside from drivetrain maintenance, I ceramic coated my truck to help prolong the life of the paint. Something to look into anyways to see if that's right for you.
    I'd keep everything close to stock otherwise.

    I had a peek through a few threads to get a handle on maintenance intervals. I have been led to believe that a lot of this has been pulled straight from Toyota's maintenance schedule. If you guys think any of this is kinda pointless or overkill, let me know. I'm not made of money and this is a good bit of stuff.

    ---

    Oil change: every 6k miles (synthetic)
    Tire rotation: every 6k miles
    Grease driveshaft fittings: every 6k miles

    Replace engine air filter: every 12k miles

    Inspect/replace serpentine belt: first at 60k, then re-inspect every 15k miles

    Replace cabin air filter: every 25k miles

    Clean MAF sensor: every 30k miles
    Clean throttle body: every 30k miles
    Replace spark plugs: every 30k miles
    Change front and rear differential fluid: every 30k miles
    Change transfer case oil: every 30k miles
    Drain and fill transmission fluid: every 30k miles

    Power steering fluid flush: every 50k miles
    Replace PCV valve: every 50k miles

    Coolant drain and fill: first at 100k, then every 50k miles

    Brake fluid replacement flush: every 60k miles

    Replace wheel bearings: every 80k miles, or as needed

    Transmission fluid flush: every 100k miles, if needed (drain and fill transmission fluid every 30k miles may stave off need for this)
    Radiator flush: every 100k miles
    Inspect timing chain: every 100k miles

    Replace front shocks and springs: every 150k miles

    Replace rear shocks and springs: unknown maintenance interval, likely as needed
