I tried making a quick buck "day trading" last week and promptly lost $500. I have reverted to my long-term strategy lol

:rofl:haven't we all! If you say you haven't ever lost, we know you're a liar and can't be trusted!:D

You absolutely have to stay long term for investing in our market to consistently work for you. There is no other way. I've learned and been burned too much.
It's why I gave such props to cboykin, or that dude here, he is emotionless and dead nuts set on following the rules for this game to work. Logic tells you these dumb rules shouldn't work.... Unless it's rigged. Those that play short are those that keep the longs happy and keep their earnings up.

I couldn't do it. None of it makes sense. None of it adds up. The only way for this game to work is to leave the money in the system.
Bottom line, as much as I hate it, and it's because the system is rigged and cheated, but US dollar will never fail and the stock market will always churn out returns if held long enough. Historically speaking, this is true 100% of the time. Lol, rant over

Good rant! And on that note, JNJ increased its dividend today. It really is that easy, buy companies like JNJ, hold for your lifetime, add whenever you can, and get paid.

I had to pay. I set it up to withdraw today. That happened of course, but no stimulus check yet.

Yea this. F day trading unless you can basically do it as a profession.

This market is confusing, nothing makes sense, I'm still not investing in it until a few months after we "get back to work" whatever that entails. I am trimmed down to some nice positions I'm happy with so time to ride it out!

It’s not that hard. If at any point when it goes down after you have bought then you just buy more and hold. It comes back up.

I’m no pro though. It’s same as long term investing, but you just take profits periodically and buy at another low

I would much rather buy something, wait a few years and sell it at a triple digit % than be glued to a computer screen all day.

Tesla was the closest to "tradeing" I have ever done, and that was buy it, wait a few months and sell it and buy something cool for the house and repeat.

Yup spot on. I will say having now been in 2 ugly recessions in my relatively short working career, I'm going to be adding physical assets to my investment strategy. I dont know what they are, but with fiat currency, a stock market that will get harder and harder to figure out as the regular investors get pushed out and the stock market being de coupled from the actual economy it may not be the greatest eggs in one basket retirement nest for my retirement eggs. I dont know what these physical assets are, weather its land, smaller companies, I dont know but I'll be looking. I'm not talking precious metals or gold.

I would say it’s difficult to save $500 a month. Most in their 20’s are just out of college, trying to get a first job, apartment and blah blah stuff. But I encourage everyone I work with ( younger people) to start saving soonest, and increase that amount as they move up on the salary-ladder.
