    Hello all,

As some of you may know, I was rear-ended THREE MONTHS ago, and we are finally getting started on the repairs!

In conjunction with the repairs, I think it's finally time to do some upgrades. I've been looking at installing roof racks on my Leer 180 cap for a while, but now I'm leaning towards a cargo basket. We would use it for truck camping -- maybe put a little firewood up there, some waterproof clothes bags, a few tools (e.g. shovel) and use it to secure an awning/tarp to. Nothing too crazy (...yet! lol).

    What are everyone's thoughts?

I'm interested in the ROLA cargo basket, which some people have installed on here I believe:

    https://www.amazon.com/59504-V-Tex-...004R34HDC/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8

I'm also interested in the Yakima Megawarrior, but that is $$$:

For both the ROLA and the Yakima, I'd definitely buy the extension. I think it looks better when it goes along the entire length of the cap.

Also stumbled across this thread, was wondering what people's thoughts were on not installing roof racks at all and going straight to the cargo basket. Would definitely save some height:

And finally, I'm worried about the steel leaving rust streaks all over. (I guess I could plastidip it? silicone the connections?) Thought about aluminum, but there are very few aluminum cargo baskets (that I could find). Only one I found is this:

...and it kind of reminds me of a dishwasher rack, lol.

Interested to hear thoughts or opinions!

I had the Yakima set up for a while. Did not like the high profile though.... I went Prinsu and sold the Yakima. I do like the lower profile idea for the Yakima basket. No experience with any of the others

    Love the look

I did look at the Prinsu but not sure I'm ready to make the jump yet. What was your opinion of the construction of the Yakima? Did it seem pretty tough to you? Any rust issues?

I had the load warrior on two vehicles (Jetta wagon my wife's Escape) before the Tacoma. I bought the extension for the Tacoma and zero rust issues on the basket. The crossbars rusted a little under the end caps but I had them way before I bought the basket as part a ski rack 10+ years ago. It's pricey, but it's well made and very solid in my opinion.

I just went through a bunch of research and I landed on the yakima off grid L, comes in tomorrow. I will be using it over my long bed which has a roll n lock cover. I did go with prinsu for roof rack.
