You can skip leather and install some later on a save money. Is 31,600 a final out the door price? Ive seen a lot of people say they regret not getting the tech package as well.

That is without tax. It comes to 16% off of MSRP. What do you think?
Also, thanks for the tip on leather. Do you have leather in yours by chance?
Anyone else have leather or wish they did?

No, 4x2. I know that pretty much disqualifies me from posting on this site, but I will never drive offroad.

I would go lower, the dealers are bleeding for cash right now. All the revenue is only coming in from the mechanic side of the shop. I would ask for 0% financing too... what do you got to lose? There is plenty of tacomas laying around. Just as long you think you have staple job or have the cash already at hand (but you dont tell them that of course).

it doesn't make any sense, they dont make $$ if they dont take $$... they can to stand lose some or lose a lot... well the truck isn't yours or mine until we take delivery. So let it collect some more dust bunnies.

In October I bought a 17 DCSB OR 2WD that someone had put Katzkin leather seats in. I never want to go back from leather again. A guy I work with loaded up a tacoma when he bought new, and it has factory leather.... The factory leather is really nice, imo nicer than the katzkin.

Might not be the right thread, but alright, here goes. I have a 2017 Tacoma DCSB SR5 V6 2wd that is coming off lease in 5 months. First, I hate leases, but was forced into one when I bought a 17 Tundra on a Friday, hated it, and returned it on the following Wednesday. 300+ miles on Tundra and begging for an exchange. They got me good, i had no leverage at that point, so here I am!

Anyway, I LOVE the Tacoma. I have had it for 31 months and needed 4X4 zero times. Most everything is paved in South Florida, sans the beach or the swamp. I enjoy the nostalgic "sport truck" SR5 package (for those of us old enough to remember the, You asked for it, you got it! and Oh what a feeling! days). I regress, but on to 2020.

The dealer called me, with what he called a "phenomenal crazy" deal. Basically, it was buy out the lease (I'm WAY UNDER MILEAGE) and sell me a new one at full price plus Toyota incentives. I told them that it wasn't what I would consider a great deal, but I would think about it. They said that they would call back, which of course they never did! Our no haggle price dealer has the following prices on the web, of which models I would consider as a replacement. I am including 4x4 only because I have always wanted one.

    - 2020 DC SR5 2wd V6 (Model 7146) $32,273 (Direct Replacement, a few more options including power seat, power rear window, adaptive cruise control, wifi, and emergency call link).

-2020 DC TRD OR 4X4 V6 (Model 7544) (has tech package, no leather, no moonroof): $37,021 plus TTT

-2020 DC TRD OR 4X4 V6 (Model 7544) (has tech package & leather, moonroof): $41,951 plus TTT

    - 2017 DC SR5 V6 2wd V6 (Buy out lease): $24,800.00 plus TTT

Tax is 6% plus $50, Tag is $350, and Title is $400.

These prices are MSRP minus SETFL incentives. I haven't yet been able to get a dealer to budge from this price, at least over the phone in my preliminary searches. Would also qualify for $850 "loyalty" reduction if I use Toyota Financing.

Okay, so now that you have my Tacoma life story, here are the questions.

    1. Has anyone been successful in getting dealer to come down from MSRP plus incentives, especially in SE Florida area?

    2. Do you think that NEW/USED pricing will continue to go down based on COVID?

    3. Keep lease for 5 months if exceptional deal is offered?

    4. Possible rare opportunity to buy out lease for less than residual if COVID impacts used car sales significantly?

Any tips or comments that would be helpful will be appreciated. Be kind, I sort of laid it all out on the line here.... Thanks!

The way the dealers here see it, IF the economy goes back to normal soon, they will make the money back, rather than not having the truck to see in inventory right now.

The other issue is, the dealers are currently closed. There is a directive in WA state that only essential employees or those who have totalled a car can buy anything right now. Which means, they don't want to deal with normal people right now, since they can't sell it anyway. No way to go into the store and negotiate a good price.

I agree with you on not making sense, but this is what I'm seeing right now. I'm waving my cash in their face, and they are all responding with "meh...."

@geoscot You're better off riding it out for a better deal. By the time you turn in your truck, it's Toyoathon to clear out 2020 inventory for 2021. Time is on your side. You got nothing to lose by keeping your truck for another 5 months.

Are 3 dealerships enough to start a price war with? I have my heart set on long bed in QS and can only find 3 within the few hundred mile radius near me.

    Thank you

This is my 1st non Ford F150 purchase in 12 years but it was time to downsize from a full size truck and the Tacoma seemed like the best choice.
I am in Western TN, 3 dealers in the area but nobody was really dealing. I finally got 1 dealer to drop some on a '20 DC TRD 4x4: Sticker was $40,311 (no dealer adds) they knocked off $3862, plus I received another $1500 off on the cash back, and $500 loyalty cash back for a total of $5862 with rebates $34,449 plus Tax, title, reg transfer (Used 2017 or 2018's are selling for high $20's, 2019 low $30's)

Hi all, first time poster to TW. Have been looking for a new Tacoma for a little while. Trying to avoid all the extra dealer options on a 2020 SR5 4x4 V6 DCLB (MSRP $35,700); same specs for TRD OR ($37,600). Seems hard to find an SR5 that doesn't have a bunch of dealer options, pushing up the SR5 $, and instead narrows the $ gap on an equivalent OR - thoughts?

You also get the AC Power, OR suspension, crawl control, rear locker & better cloth interior with OR. Probably worth the extra $ if you ask me. SR5's are great, I have one myself 2wd, but when I look to buy again, I would go with the OR or sport over the SR5 for more options. If you are looking specifically for the SR5 V6 4x4 you can build and price at https://www.toyota.com/configurator and see how many are in your area.

    Good Luck
