Truth is, any oil with a GF-5/GF-6 rating, is good to go for 99.9% of applications.
Differences only become apparent with extended OCIs or extremely severe use.

Maybe if Supertech was the official oil and NASCAR and if they made specific oil commercials with your money, Walmart would get more people to buy it.

Edit: and people would be more willing to use it.

F**k no. Then they'd charge $25 a jug for it.

But that extra $10 would be exponentially more superior oil. Not for advertising/marketing or fancier bottles. Or profit margins.

This should cause plenty of triggering. I changed the juice in my buddy's Sequoia about a month ago. He's a Valoline guy, so that's what he brought. That same day a neighbor brought me 4 unopened quarts of SuperTech 0/20 he was going to use on the next OC in his '12 Camry. But his 22 year old son totaled it a few days before and he didn't need it.

I promptly put all 4 quarts in the Valoline jug and am saving it.

    Trigger alert #1 SuperTech oil

Trigger alert #2 SuperTech in a Valoline jug

Trigger alert #3 Will be used in my wife's 2019 Corolla at the next OC.

    Breathe deep people. :D

Quick check online and the Amazon Basics is $21.25 for five quarts of 5W30 Full Syn versus Walmart at $14.88. I'm curious to know what's different, if anything, for a 42% price increase.

Maybe convenience or logistics. They spec the same on paper and in tests/UOAs

I use to use Mobil one religiously and switched 4 years ago to Super Tech. It is great oil and Blackstone labs compared to Mobil one and they are both within microns better or "worse" than each other. Mobil One sponsors things like NASCAR for millions which we, the customer, pays for by paying for the higher priced oil. More expensive not always better.

Why do you say he is a hack? He openly admits his testing is not perfect nor compares to real world usage etc. I am not saying his word is the be-all and end-all but it gives you a good indication of if a product is as good as the manufacturer claims it is. Check out his test comparing cheap grease to Lucas. I don't think you understand the definition of a "Hack". Now Scotty Kilmer is a hack!

Totally. What I like is that he explains some of the stuff that is useless and literally just marketing wank. He does have other tests that are very useful such as cheap grease vs Lucas Red & Tacky. Interesting if anything.

Warren also produces Meijer and Costco (Kirkland ) oil too...both of which are priced a bit higher than SuperTech...though you can catch some great deals on Kirkland from time to time. I think the price difference in these oils (which are the same) boils down to the way a particular retailer sells it. Meijer doesn't really market itself the same way Walmart does. So they can get away with a couple of bucks more per jug. As for Amazon? Hard to say. I know lots of folks jumped on the Basics wagon when it came out. Demand for it may be high enough that Amazon feels like they can put a bit of a premium on it. Don't know.

Personally....I wouldn't waste my time with Amazon Basics when I know that I can get the same oil labeled as SuperTech, Kirkland or Meijer right off the shelf and all within 5 minutes of drive time from my house for cheaper
