I like my GX eagle. As a person who is a little bitch when it comes to climbing anything over ~450ft/mile, I greatly appreciate that extra gear on the easy end.

I run the 11-46 on my stache and it's fine, but I find the extra 4 teeth on my full sus make up for the efficiency loss of flat pedals and pedal bob plus a few extra pounds of bike.

I've also had zero complaints about the gx eagle drivetrain that came on my bike.

My bike group has a rule though that if you shift to the Eagle ring, you must announce you're wussing out to the group by cawing like an Eagle.

    Haha we do that too.

Wasnt trying to start a SRAM vs Shimano debate, they both have their merits.

Oh but that Shimano double shift is SOOOO nice.

I just figured @usgrant would appreciate hearing that not all SRAM eagle experiences are bad.

If I were building a bike from scratch right now, I'd probably go Shimano. That's what I've run on most of my bikes over the years. I wouldn't pick a bike based on the drivetrain included in the build though.

I've been totally happy with my SRAM GX Eagle setup. Had to get the b adjuster tool early on but once that was dialed it's been totally hands off for me. Performance is good and no tinkering in the past two seasons. *shrug*

On a related note, I've been shopping gravel bikes. What do you guys like for a drivetrain in the gravel world?

I've got the latest 105 on both my wife and I's Gravel bikes, I've been super happy with it, superior to previous Ultegra even by a mile. But I've heard good things about the new GRX too.

Ha, @backcountryj stumbled on this picture from our Tacoma World trip last year while I was looking for the picture of the gravel bikes. I'll set up another one once we get past this 'Rona.
