Best Protection to not damage Exhaust when off roading? Advice?

How loud is it now?

 

I have rci transfer case skids on mine. The stock exhaust hangs low and if you don't want to do a reroute it's the best option

 

I’ve been running it like this for a while. Not bad at all to me bro. I also have a little bit of hearing loss. LOL!! No joke. When wife is riding in truck she doesn’t complain to much so I’m saying it’s pretty good.

 

I have the TRD system so not sure if that’ll affect how loud it’ll be. I really need to do this cause my OCD can’t handle single exits. Not really a fan of dual exits either. Good thing is, the wife almost never rides in the taco, we take the 4R when we’re all together

 

I also have magnaflo on truck. Love it. It’s totally fine. That single exit is so bad so glad I cut that shit off

 

what did you use to chop? That cut is beautiful haha

 

hack saw. 5 minute job, unless you did arms the day before, then 10 minute job.

Welp, I’ll have a TRD exhaust tip for sale shortly haha. It’s the welded style so if anyone would be interested

OR, if the sound is too loud, I’ll have it welded back on but still dump at axle.

Just one suggestion if you are going to chop it- try it out after the last hanger first (like my earlier #13 post here), and run with it for a bit before you decide to do the full cut.

The deeper chop won’t give you any more clearance if you still carry a spare underneath the truck, and the other one will help with keeping the exhaust out from under the truck if you drive in slow traffic or idle while parked... just a suggestion.

 

I’ve had no problems at idle or traffic.

 

Yeah I’m literally looking at it now and was thinking exactly that. I’ll cut right before the hanger.

 

That’s ok, but my camper shell stunk of smoke when I did it while parked in snow and kept the windows open with my 1st gen, so I kept my new one longer. besides- its easy to try it out and then cut twice.

cut! I went after the last hangar as my set up doesn’t have a hangar supporting the pipe after the muffler. Sounds quieter haha

I know it’s pointless as I still have a spare down there but aesthetically, it’s better. Maybe I’ll cut around the axle if I can find a way to attach a hangar there.
