That 300BO is such a versatile round. Which bullets are you going with today?

I am helping a buddy that just bought his first 300BO get started. We are going to go with500 subs and 500 supers.

subs will be Hornady 208 ELM
supers will be Speer 125 TNT

And of course nothing goes as planned. I should have know better. No worse stop down that a stuck case.

You’re not going to start out with a few different batches to see what it likes?

I always suggest doing a tuning test. I have the bullets sitting on the shelf, so if we dont find a tune that works for his gun, we will then switch bullets.

I showed him these targets, and explained the tuning process to him and the importance of spending a little time developing the load prior to bulk loading.

Today I was just brass prepping. Just finished 600 pieces. Deprimed them last night. Wet SS PIN cleaned them last night. Let them dry over night. Today I sized them. I just ordered a new priming tool so it will be next week before I prime them.

Are you loading 1000 rounds on a single stage press? I did 100 roand of 300BO last weekend for my dad and it took a while to just meter the powder for each round from the RCBC scale/dispenser, he had already primed the brass. Took no time to seat and crimp on a Dillon 550.

    yes. I KNOW.. I KNOW.... I KNOW.....

I have a Dillon 550. I have had it for 2 years.... I just don't know how to figure all that out. I bought it from a buddy at the gun club that didn't shoot pistol any more. I got it with 4 complete die heads (45, 40, 9mm, and 357 sig). I need to sit down and do it, but its a time thing. Issue is that it shares the table with my bullet making presses. so it's all cluddered up. If I ever clean the table, I really need to make bullets (and that is a week long process to make 5000). so needless to say..... i still haven't completely set it up.

Just dedicate a hour to set up your 300BO dies on a tool head. I have the sizer/deprimer die on a separate tool head all alone, treating it like a single stage press for doing case prep. Then I have the micrometer seater die in station 3 and a taper crimp die in the 4th station. I still manually meter every round for rifle as I am working up different loads. Once I have a load I like, I will set up the powder dispenser in the station 2 location.

Bought this before the craziness started for 350 in the used gun section at Rifle Gear. Did a Mcarbo spring kit, a trigger polish, +2 mag, and a cheap weapon light.

I feel you. I don't have a Dillon or anything multi-stage. Only my trusty Forster co-ax single stage press. Although to be fair, I only reload for precision rifle. Everything else, I just pick up a case of ammo and call it a day. Reloading sucks. I get the giggles whenever I hear folks tell me how much they enjoy it. About the same as mowing the lawn for me. I could think of 100 things I would rather be doing with that time......

Picked up a new fun toy this last weekend up at my friends at B-Tactical in Caddo Mills. Now to wait for my paperwork to go through on my Rugged Obsidian suppressor, and to file my form 1 so this can be a proper SBR. I have wanted one of these Kriss Vectors for years. I would say the Covid made me do it, but I had it on order before this China virus hysteria started. This will be a lot of fun once it is all together. I almost don't want to shoot it before I get it suppressed and attach the actual stock (not a damn shoulder brace).

Picked up a BCM 12.5 upper for my current "do-it-all" build. Pretty excited for this one. Have the lower on order (Aero M4E1 Freedom Edition) and just got notification that it shipped today. Now just to figure out what optic I wanna run...

That's what I carry. I like it. Kinda wish i would have gone with a 9mm, but I figure bigger is usually always better.
