    Just finished up a little wrenchin' on the daughter's Yaris.

    When I got the thing about 2.5 years ago it had new OE brake pads on it. But they were always a bit noisy. I checked them out when I got the car. All seemed good despite the noise. As time has passed they've started to warp some. So between that and the noise, it was time to replace 'em.

    Well...I found the source of the noise. Front side of the rotors looked fine. But the backsides were not. If you notice, the inner pads were riding up in the rusted area. This must have been some damage from the past....not noticed by whoever put the pads on it.

    Notice the dust imprint from the last brake application right before I pulled them. Where the screwdriver is pointing is where the outside edge of the pad was making contact causing the noise.

    New rotors. I like these. Been running a set on the Taco for more than 2 years. Zero issues. Way smoother than my OEs ever were.
