Rear 5100 problem

So i installed my bilstein 5100 kit about 3 months ago. I set the front struts to 2.5, and put an AAL 3in on the rear. My problem is that the rear shocks bottom out when i hit big bumps, like if i go over a speed bump i have to go slow so they dont hit. Ive orther post about this but i havent seen any solutions. Can some please explain, right now i kinda dissapointed.

thats a long way to travel to get to the bump stumps, the shocks seem like they would bottom out before they got to that.

I just ordered mine two weeks ago and was told the 5100 in the rear is for lifted applications. for non-lifted use a 5125. Sounds like the shock may be too long. even if it is the bump stops you shouldn't be bottoming over a speed bump.

 

no all this was my fault, i did some more research and i forgot that the rear shocks are two sizes, and when i put them on i didnt pay it any attention, so i got to switch sides. Ive read that the driver side is shorter than the pass. So hope this will help someone else, ones stupid mistake will make a quick answer for someone else.

 

I thought 5125s were extended lengths for higher lifts and 5100s were up to 2" lift. Seems like they may be topping out, not bottoming.

 

Well did my research and switch sides, and yes the driver side is shorter that was what my problem was, rides perfect now. Rides alot smoother than stock. Well hope this helps any one else that doesnt pay attention. Thanks for the help guys.

 

Yes the first gen shock lengths are different.
If you do bottom still put a little grease on top of the bump stops and if you bottom check the axel for a grease mark.

 

are the billie 5100s drivers side and passenger side #'s marked on the shock? maybe that is why one of my shocks is leaking...?? possibly? had it for about half a year now... hmmm the guys who installed it i think jus slapped it on. damn

which #'s are supposed to be on which sides?

 

Keep it simple, Drivers side rear (shorter shock)

Passenger side rear (longer shock)

 

BE5-D558-TO = front adjustables (same part both sides)
BE5-D559-TO = rear driver
BE5-D560-TO = rear passenger

Yea thats its, sry i didnt answer you fast enough. Yea my problem was i had them switched, so one of my shocks were bottoming out when i went over big bumps. All good now thou.
