I’ve heard not so good things about rancho suspension, but no personal experience. Are they as good as Bilstein and OME? I’d be doing some light wheeling but mainly look for street comfort and a bit of a lift to level my rake.

 

The few people that tried them on TW liked them. The Quicklift models aren't as popular as Bilstein 5100s because the 5100s have been around for 15 years.

 

I notice they only lift 1 3/4”. Would love to have 3”. I have levelling spacers already, could stack them on top. I know it’s not the best but any ride is better than my blown out struts lol.

This company is no longer in business so I guess I have about $2000 in my suspension including installation but it was a great investment because I've had no issues in the truck still handles great in all situations

 

If you want 3" then by all means go with Bilstein 5100, OME Nitrocharger, or Eibach Pro-Truck shocks, with lift springs.

This is my third time using this product and it is an incredible rust paint that can be top coated with anything. Really good on frames, bumpers, sliders etc. The metal blast preps steel. I have been constantly maintaining my frame for the last 10 years.

I had my frame coated with POR15. That stuff looks similar?

 

I've heard great things about the POR 15 but I've never tried it. I read your build thread a while ago and saw your frame came back to life. The most important part Of keeping a first GEN alive for a long time.

 

Hmm looks like this stuff is UV resistant and does not need the major prep that por15 does.

Might have to pick some up to try out.

Really haven’t been up to date on that build thread lol. Should probably get on that.

 

I've used Por15 quite a bit over the years, same with a lot of friends.
Seen that it really fades and breaks down when exposed to direct sunlight.
Learned the trick that if you wait till it gets tacky after applying you can then top coat it with any oil based paint (i.e. tremclad) and it will successfully stick.
Let Por15 dry and you have to use the Por15 topcoat, or scuff it up to use something else as a top coat.
Done right Por15 is outstanding, but any oil or wax and it don't stick worth crap.

 

Exactly, the preparation is much simpler.

Once you open an can you basically have to use it all up as it will harden fast.

I can vouch that it works and last for a long time.

 

Por15 is the same, when you open it, it won't last in the can as long.

And don't let it dry on you. Black hands for a week....

I was actually going to grab a quart of it last night... then I realized something.... where was I going to use it?

One of the first times in my life I don't have any vehicles with any rust on them... yeah a couple small scrapes on my sliders. But that is just a couple dabs...

This is going to be expensive... going to have to build a bigger garage... buy a project vehicle ... strip it down, just to test this stuff out....

Ill let you test it out on my bumper and sliders just to save you the hassle of getting a building permit
