About to pull the trigger on some ditch lights for the hood of my 2014. Looking at mounting with the hood brackets. Anyone in the Virginia area have issues passing their state inspection with this kind of set up. When I use to have my jeep, they wouldn't pass me with my KC lights mounted anywhere above the stock headlights.

    Thanks in advance..

No issues I just have to cover them. Inspected at dealership so they are pretty strict also

Great. What did you cover them with? For example, My KC's had full covers, but something like Cali-raised don't seem to have them.Yes, I know they are not the best, but I want to try it out before I spend the big $.

No issue uncovered here. I guess some shops make you, some don’t. Roll of the dice I guess.

I read somewhere on here that you are now allowed to have them uncovered. I've never had an issue with inspection with them uncovered.

Uncovered is now legal for driving but still not for inspection. If you have passed with them uncoverred more power to you IDK why it akes any difference anyway.
They used to have to be copletely functional but covered for both highway driving and inspection. The rules changed now also you may have them mounted and unhooked therefore counted as ornimentation.
The whole thing is a bit silly @Superman910 had the laws all printed out. I haven't been an inspector for many years now and the rules change all the time.

Why not just drive over to the State Police Area Office there in Fredericksburg and talk to the Sgt. who either should have the answer or know where to get it for you. That way you know.

Screenshot_20200426-145539_DuckDuckGo.jpg pretty sure now as long as they're clear lensed and auxiliary switched (disconnect switch is a sure fire way to avoid rejection).

Did that in the past and the fucker wrote Me a ticket and said now you know...true story.. and yes he was a dick. I went into their main office , explained what happened and no one seemed to give a shit. I have never supported their fund raisers since. Not a dime and never will.

@4x4cajun ouch! Hopefully the code and verbiage for what constitutes a failure (and what the Commonwealth wants inspectors specifically looking for {outside the actual mechanical functionality/safety}).

Problem is not all pods have available or fit other brand cover plates, so I guess a sock/sleeve cover would serve as a last ditch effort outside the electrical/black gaffers tape mentioned by Casper

I think it all depends on the officer.. They bust everyone in southern Chesapeake if the aren't covered.

I would have just told you the law and sent you on your way. But I am not in a horrible state like that.

Report him to the professional standards office here in Richmond. I worked for them for 22 years. The PSO is not even in the main building either is the Safety Office. Sounds like you did get a dick. There are many of them in that Agency.
