I'm having the 285 70R17 vs. 255 80R17 dilemma going on this last week. Someone help me decide!

I've been running 285/70/17 for a few years and love them. Much easier to find 255's as takeoffs when shopping around but I prefer the beefier look of 285's.

Thanks for the reply! I've had about 6 tire tabs open on Chrome doing research, spec-ing, pricing, etc. this last week. I've run nothing but BFG's on all my trucks throughout the years so in addition to another K02, the Open Country ATII, Cooper AT3 4S and Bridgestone A/T Revo 3 (42#s in a 285/70R17! Lightest by far) are all in the running. With my SEMA wheel backspacing, I think I'm leaning toward a 285...at the moment. Need to do some Revo3 research...

Here's my truck with the 285/75/16 tires. I think the 16" tire with more sidewall rides better than the 17" I have now.

Thanks, looks great. I have an access cab and ordered K02’s so this gives me a good idea of what I have to look forward to!

    piddly stuff
I like both sizes. It took me a while to convince myself to try the 255's which I have now. They really aren't that much more narrow. I may try 285's next but these have been incredible in any condition, E rated but ride really well, pretty quiet especially as agressive as they are, and at 57,000 miles still have good tread left. Cooper ST Maxx 255/80/17. There is a thread for them

Thanks for the reply! Good info. I'll add the Maxx to the contenders.
