Just my opinion on that, I call bullshit on not being able to cpo it. There is a 2020 with less than 1k here that is cpo. That makes me wonder if there are any underlying issues such as a collision repair they are hiding. Not saying there is something wrong with it, but there should be no reason not to cpo it...as far as extra costs go, warranty work is paid to the dealer by toyota of I'm not mistaken. Something just seems off.
Edit: the fact you are buying a vehicle right now should have them kossong your ass. If things haven't slowed because if the virus where you are just wait. They will be desperate soon.

Give it a couple of weeks and you should have no problems getting a new one for less than the offered price so far. My base OR was 32K in '16, so I've got to imagine even with the slightly higher prices on a Taco now, vs. my truck, the depressed market will suck any of that advantage out. You need to be patient.

OP- Stop trying to pay almost new prices for used Tacoma’s. It almost seems like you are trying to get a bad deal. Anything over 32k, you mid as well just buy new.

They won’t CPO it because the dealer has to pay Toyota $550 to certify it, for what, an extra 40k powertain? Carfax would show any major accident.
The truck still has at least 2-1/2 year 33k full warranty. I agree that the price is a little high. Offer them 32k OTD and be done with it.

As mentioned earlier, that's a bit much for a used Tacoma. I've been looking at buying a used Tacoma as well. All the prices ive seen seem close to a brand new one. That's why I'ma save up for new.love During these circumstances, they will b desperate to sell so best bet is to wait it out till they crack

Don’t forget about interest rates on new vs used... That’s if your financing.

OP - I would also look at cars.com bc I think they have better filters than truecar or auto trader to find for the exact truck your looking for.

I'm looking now for a DCLB offroad. With tech package, I was quoted 34,500 through Costco and local dealer.

If this is for a 4x4, that is a good deal.

Yes,4x4. However, i'm adding a couple things so it'll be more. I've never gone through Costco before. We'll see how it goes. I'm still waiting for them to get the vehicle for me. Mine was recently totaled too.

Who knows. Salesman claimed some guy bought it, decided he could not tolerate the 6mt, then traded on an auto.

I got my 2019 at the end of the year (November) for 32k before TTL. Same specs as yours, except I bought mine new.

I doubt people are buying these trucks right now. I would be very surprised if dealers can get away with some of the prices they're going for.

Too many to list. I’m lazy
I’m assuming you’re going to Cherokee co Toyota. Great guys there. They sent out an email the other day offering some new options due to covid. Might be in your best interest to talk to them again and see what kind of deal you can get worked out on a new one. They are also the only dealer in Ga that has no dealer fees. Talk to Jeff Pettycoart and Greg in finance. They’ll help you out. E0A77521-7D0E-4D7B-AD37-6627DDDCEC93.jpg
