I still like the 1st Gen body style, I do not like the wheel well shape, I prefer round.
Locks for gas cap and tailgate.
    Gas mileage.
All minor gripes, I do love my Tacoma. The ONLY mid-size truck worth a shit out there today.

just a little annoyed how the truck flexs in the rear, (looks like the bed is tweaked)

and when i go through car washes and the blower right before you exit makes the hood really flex, ( thin metal ) < to me that is cheap all my other vehicles didn't do that.

I didn't read thru the entire thread but I am sure it has been stated.
The spongy brakes are the biggest disapointment for me!

All mentioned before, things that suck:
    Non-locking tailgate
Rattling somewhere in the truck that can never be found
    High price
To low of gearing in top gear (thought that is very small detail)
    No automatic IPOD hookup!!

One tiny detail that I have no idea how it could be corrected, my radio interface reflects off the back window through the mirror when no cars are behind me....I keep jumping but I'm sure I'll get used to it, and what could you even do?!?

my 2011 has automatic door lock.

Whats the deal with rear drums? Do all tacomas have rear drum brakes?

Still getting used to the size. I was not really looking for a mid-size but I guess that's what's for dinner, anymore.

I have to admit, it does definitely take the edge off when you have 3 adults on the bench seat (which I've already done about a half a dozen times).

Still, I'd swap that cushy cab for a narrower profile & an extra 5 MPG in a heartbeat.

Also, QC. I just get the feeling this rig won't be as viable in 30 years as the '80s rigs are now.

But that applies to anything. Doing my research, I couldn't find another serious contender.

My only "complaint" up to this point is the steering wheel volume controls. You have to hold up or down forever to get it to change a noticeable amount. They should cut the intervals in half and make each push of the button do twice as much.

Also, the trucks should be free. Because monthly payments are for the birds.

the amount of cheap plastic on and on these trucks. it's everywhere. for example, the plastic that supports the arm rests. yesterday i was sitting sort of low in my seat, so i started to sit up some more in the seat by pushing up with my forearm, which was on the armrest, and my other hand was on the wheel. the hard plastic underneath the cloth of the armrest just cracked and broke. that is some really cheap engineering and corners that they cut. and i am not huge or obese by the way (180lbs). that's around the average size of an adult male, so pretty much anybody could have this happen to them. really pisses me off. still a great truck and the best in its class, but small things like this make me angry. but it's a heads up to everyone, be easy on your armrest and any of the other plastic.

-wish it had heated sideview mirrors.
-wish it had a locking tailgate.
-wish it didn't have rear drum brakes, (though the rear wheels do stay cleaner than the front wheels).
-wish it had a sun/moon roof.
-wish the rear sliding window was powered.

That has to be the biggest pet peeve on my '11. Why in the hell would you want the A/C to automatically kick on just cuz you want max air. I dont guess having max air when its 50 degrees outside would count as A/C. So if you screw up and select max air but didnt mean to you have to move the dial a half a cm off that and then hit the A/C button so you arent running the A/C....whoever at Toyota came up with this BS should be well....:smack:

Just bought mine a month ago and actually I have a pretty good list:

1.) No way to decide what options you want and don't want. (i.e., i did not want power windows and locks, but did want cruise control. Can't get one without the other)
2.) I couldn't find a manual TRD Off-Road without the TRD Quick shifter. It's nice and all, but didn't really want to spend the $450 for it. Also, I couldn't find the TRD quickshifter without the $45 fancy quick shift knob.
3.) I don't like the TRD quick shift knob. I have big hands (size 10) and still wasn't comfortable holding it. Luckily the original knob was in the glove box so I just put it back on. (on a side note, did you know the threads for the shift knob are the same as for the oil change plug? :) )
4.) The flux capacitor. Subwoofers should be heard and not seen. Takes up too much room.
5.) Jump seats (access cab). I liked the ones in my old Ranger better, going sideways you could sit a grown up back there very comfortably.
6.) No iPod interface. An $800 stereo option should be a little more high tech than the stereo they put in.
7.) Short Warranty. How come Kia can give you 10yr/10K but toyota can't?
8.) Pilot Shaft/Bell housing metal incompatibilty. (6-speed manual only). If I had known about this problem, this would have killed my purchase of a taco.
    9.) No coin storage slots.
10.) I bet the cup holders in the console are a bitch to clean.
11.) Grease Zerks on the front drive shaft are bitch to get to.
12.) Spark plugs look like a pain to change, but haven't confirmed that.

I still love my truck. Item #8 is the only thing that's a real concern though.

Well thats tough to follow ^
I don't like that when my lights are on (always), it auto dims your radio and clock. Can't read the clock during the day because of this.

my only complaint was the rear drum brakes. After some reading it appears rear disk brakes on a truck are not all that important.

My only complaint is that when the tailgate is down there is no where to step on the bumper to get into the bed.

Hmmm, good point. I hate the stupid green light when the lights are on. It looks like an "abnormal" condition when driving with lights on.

BTW, I'm sure there is a DRL mod that you could put in that would cure the dimming when driving during the day.
