    The local welding supply place.

But shop around. Welding supply places are common for gases. But the NAPA by me also does bottles and Tractor Supply Co also does some as well. So dont just limit yourself. Just depends on the route you want to go...ie buy your tank and just get refill or lease.

Roberts oxygen. I bought a 60CF bottle from them and it’s about $60 to swap it out each time. Next time I’m there I’m going to talk to them about getting a bigger one.

    edit: that’s for C25

The smaller bottles you own, the larger ones you lease. My plan is to have a conversation with them and get the largest bottle I can own. I imagine it varies but it'll be around 100 to 120.

this is a 60CF and lasts me a couple months.

Youll want to check with whoever you plan to get your gas from and see what size tanks they allow the customer to own. Some dont care on sizes and some only allow certain sizes.

The smallest I recommend is the 80 cu FT bottles as you get the cap to protect the valve. Thats more personal preference though.

Price wise you generally will pay less per cu ft of gas the larger the bottle you go.

    I own a 125 and a 250. Id definitely go with the 125

The larger bottle you get, the more bang for your buck you get when filling up with gas. For example, filling my 125 is $55, and filling my 250 is $70 when it’s double the volume. The 250 is just a hassle because it’s so heavy. I’d recommend owning the bottles if possible, but ask about expiration dates. Some places won’t care if you buy from them, others will.

    *All prices were for 25/75

If you managed to get a leased bottle off craigslist... what do you do? Find a shop who doesn't care? Asking for a friend cause mines a big bitch... the guy I bought it from got it from someone who died. It's an old bottle though so maybe he did own it? He had another MIG that was like one of those fancy $3k Lincolns with the digital gauges.

Does it say anything around the top collar of the bottle?

if I’m reading it correctly it’s from Superior Welding Supply, it was made in 1956 and it was last tested in 2015...

Last test date I see is 2015. I also can’t find it’s actually size. Anything I look up for Superior Welding Supply brings up old yellow pages links.

That's a big boy tank. Looks like the 400CF at the shop. I'd say tape measure is your best bet to figuring that out.

Quick searching says South Jersey Welding Supply bought them in 2011...

    http://www.sjwelding.com/pdf/SJW-SWS_letter.pdf

So maybe I'll call them and see what's the biggest bottle they sell lol.

The Independent distributors will most often sell any size cylinders The Major players can`t keep enough of the bigger cylinders on hand .

The monthly rental charge is where they make the money .

I have two distributors that will sell and take in trade any size cylinders .

Trying to think through what my options might be when this tank runs out. Would be awesome to be able to get it swapped/filled if I could.

My LWS doesn't even check the dates or anything when I exchange bottles. I don't think you would have an issue especially since they are no longer in business. If they were bought out and your'e local to them, I would swing by their first and see what they say. I don't see if being a problem
