Only happened to me, the orbital will work thats what we used at my schools shop only one straight line sander that only the instructor could touch

Theyre good for large flat hoods so it doesnt come out wavy

Cool that answers my question. I didn't want to go buy a $100 sander I'll only use once a year.

I always always wetsand primer with 400 grit.

I was wondering, do you sand the basecoat before clear? Haven't been able to get a straight answer.

Its been awhile, but from what I remember you wetsand the first two coats of basecoat then apply heavier for the third then leave it. Clear and then buff to finish up. I would practice whatever process you wanna use on some scrap metal before you go to do the panels.

A trick with wetsanding is to barely mist on some yellow or some other bright colored spray paint all over the primed panel before you sand. That way you can tell where youve already sanded.

You do know he's referring to the trunk with the thick layer of bondo right?

He's not cutting and buffing nice paint on a different car; he's prepping his trunk for primer and paint but first he's doing fillers and so forth. Getting rid of imperfections that'll show once painted and wants to ensure he has a nice flat surface as he started out with.

Ah, okay. What grit do you use for the base coat?

I do remember you talking about the yellow guidecoat. I know to do that for sanding the filler and panel before base to make sure you got everything.

Eastwood is great, they have so many good videos on stuff like that. They livestream three times a week.

I used 1000 to cut the paint when I touched up dents on my truck. I'll probably do that.
