Can anyone help me with the appropriate way to add tie down points to my 08 bed? For some reason Toyota thought I would only need two right next to the tailgate. I’m looking for ones I can just swap out possibly with the bolts which hold the truck bed down to the frame. Thanks!

Those rails are all but useless for tie downs I’m adding these up by the cab I’ll probably put something that will lay flush in the middle. No idea why they only added the 2.76EC6847-A927-4CCF-888D-200764C0D678.jpg 76EC6847-A927-4CCF-888D-200764C0D678.jpg

Nice mine should be here this week. I don’t understand why Toyota thought a guy wouldn’t need one at least in every corner.

I know right! Cargo securement basics say there should at least be that many

Speaking from experience, start soaking those bed bolts with PB Blaster from the top(right beneath the bolt head and washer) and under the bed where the threads are. Do this each day until your bolts come in at least. Also, clean up the threads a bit the best that you can. I replaced all 6 bed bolts recently and the 2 bolts by the tail gate were the easiest to remove. While you have them out, put a little anti-seize and if you want to go the extra mile, paint the bolt heads and washers.

    Edit:
    Old ones

I've read here that our bed bolts are #64189-0C011, but on a Toyota website, that only comes up as a Tundra bed bolt. Don't think I could find a listing for our bed bolts on any Toyota dealer site.

Thought I would sit on my local dealer's parts counter until they could verify the part number...lol

The Dodge Sprinter D rings are the very best for under the bed bolts.

This is what I've done on my 2019 SR5. Get Fastenal 800 lb rated d-rings for less than $2 each. To re-install the stock washers on top of the d-ring plates you'll need to relieve the hinge barrel slightly or grind a flat into the washer edge. After you take the stock bolts out (do one side at a time) you can just barely touch the splines to a grinding wheel to get the washers off. When the stock bolts and washers are out it's a great time to paint them and touch up the d-ring relief if you did that. Note that these d-rings will be non-rotating though.

I run chains between the front and rear d-rings for multiple tie down points. 3rd gens have bed side loops in the front for tie down points but I don't trust them.
