There's more to rental real estate than just the monthly rent cash flow. You also have long term growth of the property value. There's also the value of deducting depreciation from your income taxes at your marginal rate -- and while that depreciation is later recaptured as a lowered basis when selling the property, it'd be at the long term capital gains rate.

All that said, rental real estate isn't for everyone.

yeah, true, and in the end you end up with a house, etc. Like I said, I know it's an income stream, it's just one I'm going to pass over. If y'all want to, have at it. Zero argument, it's the better move financially, I'll accept that.

Our government is such shit. I owed on taxes this year, and set it up to withdraw on 4/14, which it did. I decided to check on my stimulus payment on their website, and it says they didn't have my direct deposit info. How the hell did they take what I owed then???

I had the same exact thing. They withdraw an ACH from my account in March. Went to check my payment status today and the site said "not enough info". I gave them the info that they already had. Now I wait. lol

haha, I checked to see where mine was and got the same excuse. But I paid my taxes beginning of march and they had no problem accessing my bank acct a month ago. Not to mention that past few years of tax returns all came from the same bank acct.

Information/permission to withdraw from an account must not be the same as information/permission to deposit to an account.

I got a refund direct deposited this year and was stimulated today.

    Holy shit are you serious?

In 2018, they deposited into that same account (in 2019 they withdrew from it). Is that permission nullified somehow?

What did they do in 2019? I had to check. My account was set up for DD for 2018 taxes (refund in April 2019). I would think that they're using the 2018 tax year filing (for 2019 deposit) as their go to for where to deposit. I was set up for DD in 2018 tax year, got my stimulation this morning.

Smart dude for sure, but having cash was his first step. He wasn't billionaire loaded, but he came from stable money in his prior generations.

That said, he has made a lot of really smart moves over his life.
