One thing about, they won’t have to honor that nontransferable warranty very long if you drive that truck on the freeway

Is it just non-oem vs oem in general or specifically in reference to ball joints?

Replaced the evap vacuum valve, the old one was making a loud tick at idle. Also hoping this will fix warm stalling.

non oem anything else is fine. the LBJ aftermarkets are known to fail early. My moogs cam dangerously close in 10k miles.

luckily they fully refunded me and i got some OEMs before they went.

the tick is normal. may be a hint quieter because the rubber isolater is there. but it'll still tick

Would you expect to it be one of the loudest components in the engine bay? I just started noticing the tick a couple months ago. I've owned the truck for 6 years.

they're all pretty loud. even in the new cars. its a valve that opens and closes very fast when its commanded on.
even the brand new one in the 02 still ticks (the original actually quit ticking... because it died and threw a code). the 01 my father bought new. its ticked as long as he can remember. its not all the time. only when its asked to vent.

Good to know if/when I hear the new one ticking. I imagine the old one got noticeably louder when it broke free from its mounting plate. Was probably resting on some metal that resonated louder than the rubber pad.

What about the O2 sensor and MAF sensors?

i graphed all the sensors. the A/F responds correctly to fuel being added or removed (-12% to +25%). and the rear o2 seems to operate just fine. its the lack of a delay between the two when switching from rich to lean that tells me the cat has failed (the techstream can really show you alot of info.

plus the o2 and A/F sensor were replaced 2 years ago.

ideally with a healthy cat when you add or remove fuel the rear o2 sensor should lag behing a second or so. indicating the catalyst is working properly

Same. Except only one since 4cyl.

Bolted right up which was nice. Didn't have to deal with welding on flanges & stuff.

I assume you had to get the CARB certified ones too since you're also in CA? I was told that for CA certified cats, if you don't want to spend the $$$$ on OEM ones then Magnaflow is the only way to go. I got both replaced for $600 a few years ago and have passed smog twice with them with flying colors, so I'm a fan. For the price (compared to OEM) they can't be beat.
