    Hello,
I have a 2018 Toyota Tacoma TRD 4X4 OFFROAD. And I wana put new shocks on it. I've gotten 3 different shocks opinion

    1. Icon stage 2
    2. FOX 3.0
    3. Rancho ( which seems like it's for heavier duty towing)

I do a lot of offroading on my free time with this being my commuting truck (maybe 30 miles per day if that). I was wondering which ones would you guys go for? Budget it atleast 6K

    Thank you

With 6k you should be good. I think I spent about that much and I got tires, wheels, adjustable Fox 2.5, Icon leaf packs, SPC UCAs, and bump stops.
Obviously I recommend The brands that I just posted.

I personally cant say, mine are new. The ride is heaven though.
I would check out the dedicated suspension threads and see what people are saying about them. And then I would call around to some we’ll known shops like Headstrong, Accutune, etc and ask them which systems are most reliable and have good reports about. That’s what I did.

Okay I will. I called one and that's where they said icons but fox 3.0s with 33s will be nice. Idk where this one guy told me ranchos. But he did have a F350

With your budget, don’t get Rancho.
Look at ADS, Fox, King, and Icon. You get what you pay for.

How are you even putting rancho in the same list? Like what? Rancho is a cheap throw away shock. Icon and fox are quality shocks

Out of those three, I would go for Fox.
However, I went with Radflo today, custom-tuned by them. I would look them up, they are pretty popular with Rock Crawlers, hill assault buggies, and I believe South African military uses their shocks for their dessert trucks (from what they say on their website). Haven't heard bad things about them (talked to some guys that buys hill assault buggies that cost like 100k starting), but not a lot of Tacos use them (marketing maybe?).

Not a big fan of digressive valving for road riding since I had Bilstein and rode with someone with Icon setup, but I like the feel of Ranger Rover suspension when on the road while some like that stiff sports type.
    Setup that I just bought:
Radflo 2.5 ext travel w/ remote resi + compression adjustment all around, Icon RXT leaf pack, and bumpstops. Radflo will do the custom valving for ya for free since all their orders are built to order.
Vendor: State48Overland is the one that hooked me up.

If you decide Icon or Fox, I would go with Accutune. They are the cheapest from what I have seen for Icons, fox, or Kings being tuned.

Oh man, that’s a lot of different opinions.

Anything with a resi will be easier and much cheaper to rebuilt.
Icon are usually stiffer on the highway due to being digressive.
They’re all good for Offroad as far as my experience and reading through all the dedicated suspension threads.

Check out this section. Read through the brand dedicated threads and make your own decision. After you have an idea of what you want, Then call one of those well known venders and they will set you up with what will work best for you and your Tacoma.

Not sure where that Fox 3.0 option came from...

A great all around mid travel kit with Fox Shocks below. We can swap out the control arm to SPC, Total Chaos, Camburg, Dirt King. Shocks will come tuned for your truck and will work great offroad and on road. Ride quality is subjective to each person, the truck and how they want it to ride so just keep that in mind. DSC Adjusters are nice if you really plan to go offroad a lot, but want smooth ride on the street. Keep em' soft on the street and stiffen up the compression when off-road. Shocks are rebuildable, tunable and will last a long time. Where exactly are you offroading mainly? Desert, rocks, snow? Do you plan to add a lot of accessories and weight to the truck?

I plan on adding LED headlights, some yellow fog lights, a custom grill, stepping up to 32s, no engine work as the thing run fabulous anyways, a bigger skid plate for protection.

I mainly offroad uphills, mid size rocks, down dirt roads, sand, riverbeds, etc.

I called yesterday a place and they said stay away from spacers because theyll crack your bolts easy.

I'm totally new to the building of offroad for a truck but not to the offroad world for razrs, quads and dirt bikes.

The picture below is what I'm using a base while building this
