If anyone knew where the market was headed, they could become a trillionaire in a matter of months. I have been saying that since I started learning about the market. Nobody has a clue, but people get paid to act like they do, and that part is crazy.

There may be some people out there who figured out patterns that actually do work (people very good at math, statistics, patterns, etc). You know what they're not doing? Telling anyone about it, because if they did, it would stop working.

I'm referring mainly to the crapass fantastical headline writers.........

 

Controversy = viewers = ad revenue.

That is where my rants about the coronavirus come from too. A recent study by scientists finding that 1/2 of New Yorkers might already have coronavirus will not make mainstream news, because that makes it seem as if it's not as dangerous. They want maximum death and stories that don't support that won't get any attention. Damn I just went on another rant...

 

That stuff has been out there for weeks, about the possibility of high percentage of people having few to no symptoms. It also means people will unknowingly spread it to people it could impact more seriously, and that’s how your “mainstream” media spun it. If we stop worrying about how bad or not bad it is, and focused on mass testing, none of this would be speculation. We’d have a true fatality rate, recovery rate, infection rate etc. instead everyone uses the same data to spin it to try to prove the stance they took from the beginning is right. When most likely, everyone was wrong.

 

That's really my point. The exact same piece of data, news, whatever, can be "spun" to support a narrative. And that's what you're getting from the news (both sides are responsible), their narrative.

 

USO continues to free fall.

 

Is this just a play on oil? If so, why not get into CVX, XOM, or some other big company, and get a huge dividend while the market does what it does?

 

Honestly, I’d like to see a decent plan for what they plan on reopening first, and why, and how. The new number of infected and dead is what it is at this point. There should be a plan for starting back up that won’t cause a spike in numbers that causes everything to collapse again. They tried to keep meat packing plants and other factories running through this, but didn’t do enough to prevent massive spread in those environments, and then plenty ended up having to shutdown anyway. We can’t have that happen on reopening

 

Anyone gonna make a play on CLX earnings?

I don't think it has. They spiked to $214 intraday last week. Bollinger bands are closing. They release on earnings on the 1st and ex-div is the 21st. I just dumped a good chunk into them.

My mutual's and 401k have been mostly fire and forget.

 

I like it. But that's his "official" fund. I think it would be fun to take his advice from his screaming at the camera show and simulate acting on it, and see how it performs. My theory is that his advice is filtered. A little bit conspiracy theory, but if all these writers/hosts gave out their true strategies all day every day, they wouldn't be able to (a) sell books or (b) use their strategy anymore, since now that everyone's doing it....So they give the public one advice and then act on different actions/give their "friends" different advice.
