It’s official, 5.29’s and 35’s is overkill. The ability to pull from 30-65MPH in 6th gear is nice though.

I’m now going to have to go 37’s

So I should rethink 5.29s with my 33s?

Different for us 3rd gens. I was reading some people like 5.29s with 33s if you're carrying a lot of weight.

    Are you AT or MT?

If AT, it sounds like you can run 5.29 with stock size tires.

I am AT with 33s (285s) and think it is fine but it is all subjective.

I'm AT with 285s as well and don't have a need/desire to regear. My mind will probably change when I go to 35s though lol.

After all this covid blows over you are welcome to drive my truck to determine if you need a regear.

edit - every setup will be different also, I have 16s which means E load and 88lbs per corner. I think you can get C or D load in 17s and probably drop 15+lbs per corner which would be huge in how the truck performs

I'll I've done is add weight to my truck. Vagabon drifter, bumpers, etc. The guys at Nitro put 5.29 in a stock 3rd gen AT and say they're happy with it, but of course, that's what they would say.

there’s a huge 3rd gen regear thread here, everyone seems to agree that 5.29’s are the way to go

That’s really small contact surfaces. Good thing they don’t have a lot of torque :crapstorm:

1 ft/lbs less than the 4.0 (although 600rpm higher) but 42 more hp.

I’m about done with my 3 1/2 year old curiosity as to why things are, where they are.

This one involved him grabbing onto a handful of armpit hair and yanking as hard as he could while saying “why is hair here?”

Yep same Here and highly recommend. It also tracks routes pretty well. Used it the entire trip from DC to Seattle. Always had service and sent updates along route in dead zones for cell.
