Anyone miss your full size truck after buying a Tacoma?

I've been tossing around the idea of buying another Tacoma. The last one I owned was a 2009 Trd sport 2wd. Which I regretted not getting a 4wd. Since then I have owned all full size trucks. Has anyone regretting moving down to a smaller truck? Also my wife has a Tahoe that we use as the family vehicle.

My main reason for wanting another tacoma is the reliability. It would also be easier to drive around the land at the house. Right now I have a new Ford F150 lariat with 5k and it needs a new rear end housing. In 2017 I had a brand new F250 that ford bought back due to a engine problem with it. At this point I'm just sick of Ford in general.

I'm interested in the 2020 TRD offroad 4x4. Sorry if I posted in the wrong section. Its been 10 years since I've been on here. Just wanted to get some opinions. Thanks

No. I downsized from an F250. It’s a big vehicle that spent a lot of time in the driveway. Granted it was heavily used for a long time but eventually I didn’t need to tow anything, didn’t need to haul anything really heavy. The tacoma is more practical.

I'm with you I think the tacoma is more practical. I had a camper when I had my F250 and now have no plans of buying another one.

    Yes, I dunno?

I have a 2nd Gen Tundra as well as the Tacoma. I need and use both for different reasons.

I hate running the Tundra in the trails, it's too wide. I hate running the Tacoma on the highway. It's too slow. There is no perfect truck.

Definitely test drive a few. It was a slight adjustment downsizing mainly with interior cabin space and power-train response. I don't drive my Taco like I did the Ford but for me it was pretty easy transition.

Don’t miss downsizing, except for engine. Don’t get me wrong, the current 3.5 V6 engine is way better than any previous Tacoma’s (IMO), but still miss a decent V8 or Turbo V6.

I agree with the previous post. I love my 2020 trd pro but have struggled with throttle response on the highway and interior room. I had a 2007 Tundra for 12 years before the new Tacoma. I don’t however miss 13-14 mpg and the struggles to park/manipulate it in downtown driving.

I missed my Silverado due to space and ride, but don't regret it. Love my Tacoma... been a money pit though. Just when I think I am done modding, there are new things that I want to swap out.

I miss the space of my Tundras but I've gone back to a Tacoma three times now. Once my need for a larger truck (towing mainly) goes away, then I get rid of the larger truck. After many problems with my '18 Raptor, I'm with you on the 'No more Ford' bandwagon. Their QC is severely lacking.

In 2004 I researched and test drove all the fullsize pickups made and chose the Nissan Titan. I owned that Titan for 12 years and that was the most comfortable, reliable truck ever, but gas mileage sucked. When I retired in 2016 I bought the Tacoma, great truck, good on gas, good off road, but not a Titan.

New small trucks are decently sized. New full size trucks are ridiculous in size.
I have a 2017 F150 for work, and a personal 2019 Tacoma, unless I'm working or need to tow, I'll take the Tacoma every time. About the only thing I don't like about the F150 is the size, but if it's my money? The size is a deal breaker.

Last time I had a full size truck was 1979, an F-150, and this Tacoma seems about the same size.

Ask yourself what you really used the bigger truck for...

if you used the larger bed and needed the tow cap increase then I’d say get a full-size.

if you’re like me and live near a big city and use the bed once or twice a week and don’t tow anything over 3000lbs then the Tacoma is best.

I work at ford and see full-size trucks daily, never saw the need for ME to own one.

I was towing a few yards of minus last week on a big trailer. I missed a full size then. Otherwise I miss at least a six for bed. I wouldn't upgrade though. I don't tow often and I can work around the small bed

Yeah I drive about 400 miles a week and that's why I sold my f250 it was a pain.

I stepped up to a full size from my Tacoma due to needing a better payload and towing ability, getting better fuel economy was a nice bonus as well. The truck feels bigger but it’s not actually much larger physically. My 2018 Ram 2500 is 5” wider and only about 6” longer when the bumper hoop and tire carrier on my Tacoma are factored in. Turning radius is a little more than my DCSB but the same as a DCLB.

I can say I do like the power of the 3.5 ecoboost in the f150. But most of time I'm never in a rush and run the speed limit anyway.
