I had the Nilight 2.5 mini HID projector on for over a year and they were great no complaints, nice cut off and plenty of light. I will have to keep you updated on how these new 3.0s hold up!

 

I'm a little late the show but am doing the exact same retro with my 03 Taco. I am wondering how you adapted your h4 HID bulbs to fit in the housings you purchased on your first build. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

 

@FlyinHawaiian21 when you built your retrofits did you have quite a bit of space behind the shroud. It looks like I need to trim but wondering if maybe it is supposed to be this way.

This is my first time doing them and want to make sure I get it right. Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Below you can see where the silicone ring fits against the housing but there is a significant amount of projector still showing, even once the shroud sits over it. You can tell it doesn't sit flush in the 2nd picture.

 

looks fine to me. The shroud shouldn’t be near the housing. I have the Morimoto D2S projectors and they have a decent gap as well even with a larger shroud.

 

I appreciate it! My shrouds are roughly an inch or more from the housing so it didn't seem right, but seems like it wouldn't be noticable once finished and sealed, just want to make sure I'm doing it right. Doesn't appear to need and trimming in the housings either. Is that your experience?

 

yep! Same experience. Once you get them mounted and aimed, seal them up and you’re good to go.

here’s what mine looked like when they were in progress. No trimming of the shrouds and it’s hard to tell but there’s definitely a nice gap between the shrouds and housings.

Hey, so i freaking love your build, i dont have much money myself but i really want halos, can you send me a list of your updated build? Because i realized that the iJDMTOY projectors do not have a shroud that comes with it, so should i just buy the niilight version? Also what halo lights did you use and how did you attach them? Couldu please post the things that i need?

 

Did you reuse the boot on the back when reinstalling?

 

This post was really helpful. Thanks FlyinHawaiian21, I was in the same boat with the hours spent on research. I'll list parts and what I did if people ask. I must say though I was able to order the parts to build my projectors pretty easily after stumbling upon this forum. The custom kits they sell are ridiculously expens ive, so again thanks. I purchased new aftermarket beadlights for the first set, im currently 3/4 done with my OEM's I removed. Just waiting on the mail man with my projectors. To all those put off by the idea of baking and removing a headlight lense, I assure you its not as scary as you'd think.
