Scotchgard seats good or bad idea?

I have the cloth seats in a 2011 tacoma. Is it a good idea to scotchgard them now or will it ruin the cloth?

 

I had mine done from the dealership before buying it, seems to work well to me..

 

I did mine with the can right after I bought it. Didn't change the look at all. Couldn't tell it was on there. Kids got some chocolate on it and it came off with just the shop vac.

good idea. it wont hurt the cloth at all.

 

thanks, does the auto parts store (auto zone, pep boys, etc) carry 303?

 

Try a marine/boating supply store or outdoor furniture shop. Order online if you have to, its worth the money and wait.

 

do it now + every 6 months

 

Just go on ahead to custom leather and get it over with.

I scotchgard the upholstery on every new vehicle I get, and it has made cleanup easier.

 

I did mine, no alterations to the sport cloth seats. also did the carpet and mats. It does take on a "scotch gardy" scent for a couple of weeks, but it goes away after a while.

 

I am quite thankful I did mine.

 

Sorry to thread jump, but I just got 2011 last Saturday and also considering scotch guard diy for my truck. Any advice/instruction/per do or don't do per this scotch guard?

I put down plastic drop cloth on the doors, dash, console, winshield and any other non fabric surface, and then went to town on spraying all fabric. I let it dry and then gave it a second coat. Scotchgard dries to a white powder on nonfabric materials but wipes off easily.

 

I did mine 15 years ago so I really don't remember what it did to the fabric. I do it now about once a year....
