    Morning inmates. :hattip:
This post makes me sad. Ex-wife’s dad had a 39A he got from his dad. I think it was a 1940 production. Well that gun hadn’t been properly cleaned in maybe it’s whole life. You could barely see the rifling in the barrel. Broke her down and cleaned her up. We could shoot golf balls at 100 yards all day with that beauty. Annie Oakley’s rifle of choice. Lost it in the divorce. Miss that gun!!!

Meh, my Crossman Pumpmaster is too iffy for me.
Unless I'm just trying to discourage them by pumping a few times and stinging them.
    Smoothbore, lousy sights.
Accuracy is poor, though a bit better with .177 lead pellets.

    I hate wounding any critter.

But since you live in a fancy neighborhood...
I guess a .22 is out for you.

Also, used to hunt Rabbit with a .22 pellet rifle, that did some damage also. Think it was a Beeman break barrel...around $130

If the lil buggers are active, we'll set up a card table, replete with sandbags. Open the sliding door a few inches, straight shot to the bird feeder. Ya' we shoot from cover. :)
And NO birds are harmed. Never had a problem with squirrels till last year. Was always rabbits chewing everything up. Squirrels are waaay worse.

    You know it!
There aren't many (any?) .22 rifles available today that nice.
    Traditional walnut stock, deep blueing.

The long barrel and micro groove rifling make it very accurate.
You aren't exaggerating about golf balls at 100 yards.
But you gotta get a good aftermarket rear peep sight...the original buckhorn just won't do.
Or a scope, but personally, I think a scope kinda ruins the traditional lines.
And it hates cheap ammo (like Rem Thunderbolts). :p

hold my hand sir.... for squirrel eradication, find a tree (that is close enuff to shoot comfortably to)with at least a 2 foot base (backdrop to avoid the dreaded Rick O'Shea), then find a random stick, put peanut butter on the stick, place the stick at the base of said tree, the squirrels will come to the stick/peanut butter combo, then you aim yer weapon of choice carefully, and blow there fuckin heads off, usually 1 at a time, as the commotion will shake them up for just a little while, but they will come back,ok ?

I agree. It had a period correct 4x Weaver scope on it. Could barely see through it. So I go to take it apart and clean it. What could go wrong? Well, there’s like 3 lenses in that damn thing that all fell out when I unscrewed the keeper ring. Didn’t expect that! Took a few tries to get them cleaned and back in the right order lol. It didn’t look great but damn, you couldn’t miss!

Didn't they suspend production of those a while back?
There doesn't seem to be much demand for a .22 rifle that expensive and fine.
I'm sure they'll make them again though.

Question: What do you call a tree that is misunderstood why it was cut down?

    Answer: Stumped
