My dad got a black bear 2-3 years ago. I grilled up some steaks and burgers. That meat is really good.
Its red meat but bears are in the pig family so its good eating.
Most other predators I’ve eaten taste nasty but bear is great.

I would most certainly increase that. Bring averages up, it's what I do.

I've heard those bears are MASSIVE. They live in the blackwater swamp area on the Carolina border and never hibernate. I think some of the guys at work have hunted but not positive.

Make sure you cook it through. Only advice I have. Bears can carry trichinosis. Fun hunting though.

Anyone recommend a good food scale? I’m gonna finally get one.

My kitchen needs some better quality products. I’m in the market for a set of knives and pots right now if anyone can make any recommendations on those as well.

I want professional level products but at the same time nothing super expensive.
Like $500 for knives is OK not $2,500 LOL

What can y'all tell me about cast iron? I'm interested in trying it but will it trash my glass stovetop?

    Cast iron is the shit!
Everyone should have one and saying that makes me a horrible hypocrit because I don’t own one but will add this to my list.

They are great for doing pork chops and steaks inside. Start it on the stove top and finish in the oven.
They are great to throw in a smoker as well or cook straight on a fire.
They do great skillet breads and caseroles.

They probably will harm your glass top if you aren’t careful with it.

If you have a gas grill with a gas stock pot Burner on the side you can use that instead.

You do have to be sure to season it first if you buy a new one.

I am on Vancouver Island, near Victoria. In the before times, there is a ferry directly from Seattle...the island is pretty big and there are lots of wild and woolly places if the outdoors are your thing. Fishing/hiking/etc. Worth a visit for sure imho :D

It's gorgeous. I grew up in WA and always loved getting to visit BC. Most recent was last summer. Are they still doing the Victoria clipper? Or is it just shut down for now?
