Right, but do you have the two pin sealed plastic connector with a ring connector on the horn or do you have just a simple metal spade sticking off the horn?

Hahha, so is mine! Guess the photos dont do it justice..

In 2002 the factory called it "Charcoal" and I believe it may be different than your 98 Gray. Or do you mean 98 gray vs 02 charcoal?! Not sure if they made the sport seats like these I have in those years, I thought they were from 01-04 only but I may be mistaken... you can bolt them in (IF you find some), but not certain if you will find the matching color and patterns for your model year.

Maybe this pic shows the color and patterns a bit better?

If my Mom doesnt want my other set for whatever reason I think I am going to hold an auction on Tacoma World for these and sell them to whomever loves their truck the most.. my inbox is blowing up and they are not even listed for sale!!

What size is the muffler just curious.

I find it very interesting how inconsistent the trucks all sound...though I guess I shouldn't be surprised considering all the other inconsistencies we've found..

I LOOOOVVEEEE Frank's setup. But I have never heard another taco like it. Bretts is close I think(Wyo brett not squeaky). Take Ben's for example, his is the "same" setup. But wow it does not sound the same, I actually don't like his haha

I've never felt like Franks gets that raspy up high like your's does. Or Ben's.

Idk. Super weird. Could be I'm just bias AF too lol but...then again..i am an audio engineer...so..idk.

I'll measure it later cuz I have no idea. But I bet a lot of that sound difference comes from the number of cats and the redesigned manifolds. Wouldn't be too surprised if the later programming of the ecu's had something to do with it as well they seem to manage coasting and descending RPM patterns different with regard to ignition and cutting off the injectors.

    I couldn't stand my 18" magnaflow on it's own.

Magnaflow + Vibrant ultra-quiet resonator is perfect.

Maybe someone can offer some advice. I’m getting weird intermittent hard starting.

This does not seem to be 100% dependent on Any situation. Hot starts seem normal. Cold starts seem normal. It only happens sometimes when it’s been sitting 1-3 hours. But still only 10-20% of the time.

This all started when I changed out injectors for OEMs that were cleaned and flow tested. Obviously I’ve suspected something with the injectors So I changed the oil to check for gas and I’m going to send it off to be tested.

no misfires, AFRs are normal, fuel trims haven’t changed much if any at all.

What is weird is that it’s more hard starting than even after draining the fuel lines like after a fuel pump change or a fuel filter change. Sometimes it sort of dies after the first turn over and then starts right up after the second and other times it needs to crank for ~4 seconds before it finally starts up.

I’m going to change the fuel regulator tomorrow. I’m just worried that it’s a leaky injector or maybe something electrical.

    Any ideas?

Counterfeit OEM injector maybe? @CS_AR is a sleuth when it comes to spotting fakes.

The whole situation certainly sounds a lot like a bad injector. The crank sensors can get kind of weird and cause the same problem

I bought them off of eBay in a 5vz fuel rail. They were brown, were stamped Aisin, And were identical to OEMs. and I’d assume that the cleaning and flow testing would be able to determine that they’re funky or not.

Most places only flow test. They don't pressure leak test for any real duration

Anyone ever had a bad exhaust cam on a 3rz? My valve clearances are wonky.

Can't imagine how the cam would be bad other than maybe the lobes being worn down, but i'd think that the shims would wear out before the cam does.
It's common for the exhaust numbers to more out of wack than intake. But iirc, they wear tight and not loose.
When was the last time you did a valve clearance check/reshim?

Maybe? But I doubt it. Seller would have to have added varnish and acquired a very obviously used 5vz fuel rail to put them in. If I remember correctly they smelled like gas as well.
