I need to make a little Public Service Announcement for all folks who are running injectors that differ from your original calibration specified. (i.e. TRD Calibration with FIC 650's). It is helpful even if you still have stock injectors, but it's critical that folks who've changed injectors to get this parameter added to their calibration's definition.

I need you all to submit a support ticket with HPTuners asking them to add the Injector Constant Inverse to your definition. You may open up your calibration in the latest Beta to ensure it's not already defined, but to properly tune the truck with any injector that wasn't specified in the stock cal, needs this parameter defined.

Why is this important you might ask? Great question!

Our ECU logic uses a dynamic flow model for injector behavior rather than a single or static injector "constant" (as was previously defined).. These systems try to precisely account for the flow of the injectors by modeling how their flow changes as a function of how long they are open.

Doing the tuning gods work as always.

For a stock NA truck with stock injectors these parameters I doubt would need to be played with correct?

Luckily Toyotas injector control gets easier on the new stuff. Except there are dynamics involved for fuel pressure as well with the newer stuff

I really hope you take a look at our upcoming 3.5L software. it releases at the end of the month and is superb.

Thanks man, try my damndest to do right by everyone!

You’re correct, stock NA trucks don’t need to mess with this. Though if there’s anyone who wants a spicy N/A setup who might be looking to fit the TRD injectors, they’d need to do this.

I did see you were releasing it. I think it’ll be a hit. Is there a trial version (or similar, something non-functional) that I could check out?

I’d love to check it out. Have you fully defined the 304A5000/304A5100 Cal ID’s by chance?

I will have to check with my file engineer on those, as he is responsible for all older toyotas. I am responsible for definitions of the newer stuff.

There is not a trial version..but I can set you up with something
it's not out quite yet. but 10-14 days or less. We had to finish up the software code and controls for proper displaying of the 4D tables, which there are many.

For tuners that show exceptional skill with our software there will be pro tuner options. Which comes with 2000+ tables.

I tried reading through this post for my answer, but it's a pretty big fricken post!

Can someone just answer if this tuner would be beneficial for a stock 4.0 tacoma or only for supercharged/turbo applications?

Yes, good things can be done even on a stock vehicle.

I was completely stock. It made a nice difference in mid range power. I later added cam gears from @mightytacoman, headers, larger throttle body and urd intake. Night and day difference. If you're a manual trans you'll love getting rid of the rev hang. If you're auto, everyone seems to happy with it. Can't say enough positive things about @JustDSM . Super friendly, more than affordable, fast turnaround, and top notch skills .

    Awesome to know!

Thanks, I'll need to invest some time into reading this!

Yea, I'm an auto. I'm going to have to try this out! Maybe not quite as far as your truck, but it sounds pretty killer!

Once you’re ready, and you’d like to try it out, I can send you a spare ECU with a tune already installed for $400 or if you can afford a few days down time for shipping, I can tune your existing ECU for $250. To buy the hardware, credits and tune, you’re looking at ~$550.

Either way there’s a lot to be learned in here. Just give us/me a shout when you want to move forward. We’ll get you squared away!

Sounds like a plan! Are you interested in buying my old ECU once it’s done?

@JustDSM, how long does it take to flash the ECU? I’ll hit you up when I redeploy, I’m stationed in Killeen so you’re not too far. Also, any benefit swapping to TRD injectors or best to remain stock? I had an Audi A4, modded it, swapped to TT225 along with a GIAC program

Ken, Hafa Adai! I have a set of TRD injectors if that is a route that you want to take. Justin is the guy to get it done.

Thank you for your service brother!

In person I can do a flash in as little 5-10 minutes from plugging in the cable to starting it up post flash. Usually takes 2-3x that with the BSing that inevitably happens.

If you’re mailing me an ECU, I flash then on the bench (with a custom bench flashing harness) the same day I receive them. They’re in the mail (Priority) the following AM.

as for the TRD injectors, there’s no need to do them on a N/A truck until you start replacing internals. Cams, high compression, ported heads, etc.

Im essentially a stock auto truck. only performance mod is a mid intake manifold XTP spacer. I wouldnt dream of running the stock tune ever again.

Keep on the lookout for my v13 trans tune coming soon. (probably by next weekend) been spending some time in excel fine tuning the shift tables going to flash tomorrow and drive the next week to see how it is.
