Been going to BSP for 30+ years. Amazing & Special place for sure.

 

I learned of a new place down in RI Well...it's not new, but I now know about it.

Jay paper mill, near Farmington. Can't remember who owns the mill now. Was IP for years.

 

Yup. Verso mill in Jay. Been texting some buddies all afternoon. Luckily it seems like they either werent on shift or got jobs elsewhere

Rumor is a pressure line bursts. The blast was in the part (digester) that mixes the pulp with chemicals. They say it could be a year or more if they rebuild it.

IF they rebuild. That's the problem, the pulp mill was just about the only thing keeping the Jay mill up and running still. Without it, they won't be very profitable at all and would likely only last a few more years. It wasn't a huge profit either, so it might not be worth it to rebuild and shut it down instead.

 

They are talking right now about how they are going to reopen things. Maybe this trip still has a chance depending on the timing.

 

I fuckin' hope so. It's time to get out and go camping.

 

I might be down for this now that my race got cancelled. Need to use my offroad luxury yacht for what it was made for: overlund travelling/ "wheeling" gravel roads/wanderlust etc...

 

So, my plan to stay over in OOB the night before is on the rocks at the moment, so there's a chance Friday I just make a straight shot. 5.5 hours Providence to Millinocket :O

this still hasn’t cancelled our trip but it’s getting closer. Like you can hear the jaws music in the background.

 

Fortunately the park isn't sort of our plans.

But I'll make a decision by May 1 so everyone can have some notice.

 

yeah but if Acadia is closing down through may I’d be worried about NMW too.

old orchard might be out but I’m still game time decision. If they lift the lock down that Friday I’ll be there.
