That sounds like a fun way to mark the day for them! We had our first wedding of the year today, 6 people including the couple. They will do a regular one later, but let them get the nerve wracking part over with early.

The registry's new rules are so frustrating. They obviously saw my birth certificate when I got my license, but due to their "resetting everyone to not knowing who they are" I needed to provide numbers from it to prove legal presence try to renew my license online. It didn't like the numbers (probably because it's an old birth certificate which pretty much looks like the city clerk typed it up on the spot). I have a passport that will have aged enough to use on that system in another month, but it looks like once you try one document that fails, you're done.

I'm hoping my email to the registry gets to someone who can basically reset it. I want to be able to renew online for once in my life--there's always been some reason that I couldn't. Fortunately, I have until almost the end of the year.

You should see the shit I went through getting mine. In fairness a lot of it is b/c I didn't have an original birth certificate..never had one. I had to get something from the probate court showing the finalization of my adoption and thank goodness they accepted it

Nah, standard. I don't fly and if I did the passport is accepted in place of it. I'd get it if I had to go in person.

I never had a passport either so it wasn't that simple. My wife had issues b/c her divorce decree didn't have a raised seal, which none of them did back then.

That said, hers was due right after they started the RealID and mine was 4 months later. I've heard they are easier now..I ended up bringing the court paperwork to the RMV and telling a manager that this is all by law they can give me due to my birth parents' right to remain unknown, so here's the number for the courthouse if you can't take it.

You rent the lift for cutting? This is a good idea, I have a handful of big branches on a few trees I don't want to pay to take down, but can't get to.

I got a quote for just topping 3 trees was 5,500 and they wanted the wood 6000 to take the 3 trees all the way down and take the wood.
I rented a 86' lift for 3000 for the week and we are going to dump 13 trees and I get to keep my wood.
I'm up to 5.2 and a trim after 12.5 hours...
    I'm getting there:thumbsup:
This is being done by me and my buddy.

I had a monster in my yard that I wouldn’t touch, first 2 quotes I got to take it down we’re over $2k, third guy came and did it for $500. They chipped the limbs and left the logs in 6’ lengths for me and ground the stump down. I made sure they were insured before hiring them, they just owned all of their own equipment and could undercut their competition. The pricing can vary greatly with tree guys.

Big-time, my problem was with all the other trees I had that are dead from gypsy moths.
Otherwise I would have shopped around.
The 3-4 main concerns were going to take out the house for sure and my septic.

Yeah, we had the big pines at camp quoted last fall, and the first guy said $7500 to drop them, take all of the marketable timber, and leave the slash, no chipping or grinding. Then he started telling us about his lakehouse on Cobbossee Lake and we said 'thanks for your time'
Second guy (one we'd used before) was $3500, chipping most of the limbs and leaving everything else as it lay for us to pick up (which was fine with me; only took me a weekend), including the marketable stuff. And most of these trees were 120-160 feet tall, nice and straight. Lots and lots of good lumber there, even after you figured in the stuff that had metal, lightning, or insect damage.

One thing I have noticed over the years is that guys who climb are generally much cheaper than guys who use equipment. The $7500 guy said he needed to park a bucket truck, have two guys directing traffic, have a cutter, groundsmen, etc. Ended up with a tally of like 10 people he'd need to hire and that it'd take 3 days, blah blah.
The $3500 guys were a 4-man crew on day one and a 3-man crew on day 2. Two groundsmen and two climbers, then one groundsman and two climbers the next day. They spent all of day 1 in the trees right next to the camp, bringing them down in 12-foot sections. Then the next day did the trees in the lot across the road, climbing and topping them and then just dropping the rest of the trunks from the ground.

Welcome! I’ve seen some behind-the-grill brackets that may work with that shape, depending on how hot they get.

    Yikes.

times like this I’m so happy with my house decision. i spent some time wasting some time on reddit reading HOA horror stories this morning (it’s been a long quarantine....)

    • No hoa (and never will ever)
    • No trees on the property. A small tree shrub thing out front that’s not a problem. A few small privacy trees but nothing like oaks or maples etc.
    • no easements
    • Not on the main road
    • 1/3 acre in east providence and not on top of the neighbors so that our dining room is in their living room

I want to move south and hate the cold but honestly this house is such a unicorn. I see all the bad as a homeowner but was driving around town and took the king route to the dog park the other day and it was just houses crammed in with no yards and busy roads etc etc.
