Boeing's screw up is text book the customer is not always right mixed with trying to be cheap and it bit them in the ass, bad!!. They should have told the airlines, mainly SWA and AA, f you we arent polishing the almost 50yr old 737 turd any further and we are clean sheet building a new design. Say what you will about Airbus, but they designed the a318/19/20 series for modern upgrades to more efficient engines, the 737 they cant do that, they should have ended the 737 line at the -800.

I do, since I survived the scary virus almost 4 months ago.

Honestly, I'm enjoying the time at home, while still working.

I forgot to put "scary" in "".

IMHO, it's being way overplayed, but there is nothing I can do about it.

The projected death toll was lowered again recently. Not even close to the 2018 flu if this projection is what happens (like 20k less deaths). That’s great news, I am just frustrated with the overreaction (like many others).

The problem is we needed this overreaction to keep those death tolls lower. With the flu we just act normal and go on with life. That's worldwide. With this we didn't. Also worldwide.

My personal opinion is we should have let nature take it's course and proceeded as normal. Even the OG death predictions where acceptable to me. We didn't. Now time will tell how much these slow the curve measures cost us in the long run.

I have need watching Sweden, their approach will give us an idea of how well the government imposed lockdowns worked (because they aren’t doing that). I get why we did it, and hope it did save lives.

It'll be an interesting study for sure. John Hopkins added a case-fatality tab to the world map. Sweden sits at 10% right now. New York sits at 7.28%. Cali is 3.59%. If you haven't looked at that site yet it's got some incredibly useful info. Not skewed by the news media or emotion. Just raw data. The kind that's science is supposed to be based off of. lol

I have a feeling that the total cases are being highly underreported (probably due to a lack of testing). I think the death rate is 10x (or even a lot more) lower than what they’re reporting now. There are just too many asymptomatic people to believe otherwise. Just a hunch though.

I couldn't agree more. Even the annual flu is just a projection. We'll never know the true numbers of infected/fatality. With that said the only real info we can use for this is reported numbers. That's real data with real values. If you look at those the death rate varies all over the place. Some places are as low as 2% where others are as high as 13%. I'm talking first world nations here with proper hospitals. The why is what the CDC and WHO need to figure out.

    This came up on Facebook

    https://www.cnbc.com/2020/04/18/24-hour-fitness-weighs-bankruptcy-amid-coronavirus-pandemic.html

Now, when searching for this article to post this morning, there also came up a lot of stuff about people trying to cancel. I agree canceling gym memberships is a royal shit show, so I agree maybe we did need a big change there. I know the moment my gym opens I’m going in to cancel. That was fun actually their site said the stopped billing, and their email from CS brainwash just said “we stopped billing at all locations”. My response said “perfect. I have it in writing that y’all didn’t bill me and I have a charge this month. I’ll go mark it as fraud and let the bank investigate” within 10 minutes I had a higher up rep email and call me. Their explanation was basically they didn’t turn off billing and when the finance department is back in the office they can reverse charges. Whatever. Like I said I’ll be cancelling the second they open (my contract says I need to do it in club. I’m not doing anything not by the contract I’ve heard horror stories. I’m following it to a T).

Anyway after that tangent, I’ve said before that we’re still in the “good riddance” phase of economic turmoil and that were trimming the fat of some companies with dated models, bad policies, etc. and maybe 24 hour fitness is part of that, but I think we might be near the cusp of that trend in the next week or two. I think if we push this through into May we’re beyond that and are going to lose the “good guys” if that makes sense

weird, I've never had any issues cancelling memberships at 3 different gyms over the last few years. 2 national brands and one local.

i haven’t had issues myself but I’ve read a lot of problems with my current gym. I didn’t even sign up for them. There was a gym at the end of the road at work that I signed up for when I would go for a run during lunch. They shut down and transferred my membership to another bigger chain that I’ve read a lot of problems about cancelling from.

The issue is there is no way to hold anyone accountable for anything. If the death count is high it is "we were right and we should have cracked down even harder" low "thank god we locked it down". Yea the economy is in shambles and the great food riots of 2021 have killed 2million people so far but at least we saved some people back in early 2020 LOL!!!! I have a weird dark sense of humor, sorry....

I heard we actually have 10k fewer deaths per day than pre corona virus here in america.

I have changed my stance on the lockdowns, if just one chain of gyms goes under, this has all been worth it.
