On a drill press or on a mill? Be nice on either but finding one on a drill press is pretty uncommon and expensive in the ones I have seen. On a mill.... definitely worth it

I'm just talking about a drill press. Definitely not needed. Maybe I just have too much free time right now. I have some extra CNC router parts so I'm considering rigging something up.

Hey guys, I’m looking at getting a welder to try and learn. I found this Millermatic DVI2 for sale locally for $200, saying it needs a motherboard. I know it would be more than I need for now, but would it be worth the money to fix it, if it’s only the motherboard? Assuming that’s all it would need? Thanks!

I would think if your in production cycling parts once a minute it would be handy .

Where your moving at least 10 inches every time.

    Returning to the same spot.

The work I do it would be more of a pain or a very long learning curve .

If you get it for free or are paid to haul it away maybe.

If the money spent does not impact you in any way .

Looks like it has lived a hard life .

Do you know what the problem is that it might mean you need a control board ??

Once you buy a Control board it is yours

Check if you can still get a control board quite possible not. (Jan 07 )

Last mother board I bought for a miller was $175. I’d pass on that one.

Box the back of the frame in and then flip the shackles with them hanging off the rear tube

I have no idea why it may need the motherboard, but I agree it does look like it’s lived a hard life. If it’s from Jan 07, you would probably be right on getting a board, I didn’t realize it was that old. I’ve found the parts manual for it but don’t see exactly what PN the motherboard would be.

If I got it for $100, and the mother board was $175 and everything else still worked like it should, that wouldn’t seem too bad to me...but to @Wyoming09 credit, judging my the looks I may be opening a can of worms. Like I said, I know nothing of welding, only enough to know that miller is one of the big names and quality

Those transformer machines are pretty robust. I never judge them by the physical looks. Mine have looked worse.

I'm a fan of gambling and I'm a fan of giving good tools a second chance at becoming useful again.

Like I said, if that board is too expensive CL or FB marketplace it and get your money back.

I’m way past that point. My bumper ties into the rear hangers so I’d have to completely redo that. I can always change it later though if I dislike the set up, but I love these hangers

Got everything fitted up and pulled it for weld. Should hopefully have it all done by tomorrow. This thing weighs nothing, maybe 80-90 lbs. I was pleasantly surprised when I removed it from the truck.
