According to info in Wikipedia, Andersen bought Silver Line in 2006 and sold the brand to Ply Gem in 2018.

Haha, awesome! Ply Gem is the company that bought the manufacturer for the siding on my house and immediately discontinued it.

There's no info on the Ply Gem website for Silver Line, so they may have discontinued it as well.

    Gotta love old houses.

I considered going this route for our kitchen, but I'm glad I ended up pulling and re-doing the floor framing. One of the sills was rotting out and the joists were inadequate, it was a lot of work but a flat, level, solid floor was worth it.IMG_20181116_155739.jpg

Remove the sash and bring it to a glass shop. They should be able to measure for a new one and send you home with the old one to keep your home dry/secure till the new glass is ready to be installed into the old sash.

Hey guys I had a question about garage moulding. My current situation (view from inside):
    C89A3120-1A35-4508-9ECF-FBAE7F74F23A.jpg

I’m looking to add PVC moulding from Home Depot:
    9542D72B-D574-4CB1-9C80-C38EDEE17D7B.jpg

    https://www.homedepot.com/p/204218570

But it looks like the exterior of the garage already has some kind of trim piece (can also see the gap).
    5D6DBE55-9ACC-441A-A7B7-7606D9155629.jpg

Question: do I attach the PVC weatherstrip right on top of the trim? Or should I remove the trim and put the PVC weatherstrip in its place? Thanks in advance.

remove that existing trim and replace it with the weatherstripping. Usually the weatherstripping for your garage door doesn’t go across the top. So I would put a trim piece there and caulk it using window caulk for good measure. But that’s me. Someone else may have better advice.

@MJonaGS32 - if the garage door has just moved away from the weather stripping, the track for the door should be adjustable so you can close that gap up a bit.

Unless the old weather stripping is bad and needs replacing, then remove it first then add the new.

Because I have a cheap piece of shit dethatcher that likes to overheat every 10 minutes, the task of dethatching my yard took most of the day. We ended up bringing six 32 gallon garbage cans and two yard bags to the recycling center, so in the neighborhood of 200 gallons of grass.

Massive difference, but I am damn tired! I'm betting I get a ton more up with the mower later that the rakes left behind.

Prior owner added front porch and placed it on grade.. on a paver.. with a 3x3 holding it up (non PT).. on sand.. in Maine winters with the frost heaving.
His flashing for the front door?.. plastic wrap over osb. Termites have eaten the front sill so everything underneath needs to be removed and replaced then properly douched with pesticides. Had to jack the front of the porch over 3” to get back to level. No joist hangers in sight. No idea why the hell the storm windows installed on wood sticking out with no flashing but I dont question anything I find anymore because he was a dipshit. House is paid off though so.. sigh. Stripping to studs, new insulation, sheathing, windows, siding blah blah blah. Cant wait to open that can of worms..

No, sir! Shes a beaut. Have built a house and am fixing another with it. Never mind the firewood, landscaping, engine pulling, and the times of “i’ll get that for you” *YOINK* this has saved my ass on. My pops lives next door to me and Ive often come home to it missing from the garage, but he always brings it back (so far)

I’d go all out, sand it all down, prime and paint. I first used my DEWALT palm sander Till I found my local Rent all place had drywall sanders. You can bang out a room in 10-15 minutes.

for the window, I’d put see through film (like window tint) that blocks out the heat in the summer.

Thanks! Was definitely going to add it to the top too.

Good to know about adjusting the track so the door fits better. Still think I’ll replace the trim as well since the PVC weatherstrip was an extra lip that will cover up even the tiniest gap. Thanks!
