Tacoma - OVTUNE - VFTUNER - Update Info and Original Development

Pretty sure OVtune is having us test for anything weird or not right with the files, not trying to rewrite the whole file with people's suggestions. He has already said in the recent past he is tuning it to how he feels it should be, not trying to make everyone happy.

 

Or when Matt asks for feedback and people interpret that as bitching.

 

The whole shift point fight is worse than the tip in fight. It’s caused nothing but problems for everybody which is why mat decided he gets to decide the shift points

 

ECT in the stock tune wasn't *that* bad for me, however 1.05 91 was better.

 

Exactly......can't please everyone with the same tune.

 

Technical question. I have the latest version of flash tuner software. When I have the flash tuner plugged into OBDII port trying to identify my ECU version, I get a charging system warning light on my dash, and could not carry on.

I followed the instructions, plugged in Flash unit, turned ignition to "on" position, engine not running. Flash tuner USB cable Plugged into USB 2.0 port on my laptop.
Am I doing something wrong?

I had read that using the crawl control knob to change shifting patterns was cancelled. Just wanting to re-confirm because rotating the knob no longer prompts an on-display notification.

 

2 presses of the start button with foot off the brake right? Ignition mode.

 

Yes, no longer gonna be done that way since not all the trucks have it.

based on my initial test runs you are GOING TO LIKE THIS! Simply ass kicker for my set-up. 4.88's with stock tires 87 OL tune. Mind blowing.

 

That pops up if the engine isn’t running and you are flipped to ignition. Totally normal.

 

no. that is normal. just don't touch or mess with anything - just let it cycle. it will complete the reading and transfer until it says completed successfully - relax.

 

Is this 04B04 2.0 available for the handhelds (OpenFlash)?

 

Fantastic. Should be even better in the 91 tune (hopefully). 91 octane is $1.84/gal

 

That was my point. Even with 4.88’s it won’t accelerate uphill in 5th. I don’t ever “floor” it so maybe I’m not use to that. I didn’t realize you were talking about stock config. Comment deleted

with this test file- was the tow mode implemented? (s mode and ect pressed)
