Doesn't look right. Will the shell push toward the cab any more and still have the rear door fit? Here is my '06 with a Leer. The correct Leer for your year and cab is a very good fit. I found the fit to be so good they almost position themselves with just a little adjustment room.

Here's what mine looks like. Not touching the paint at all. Can't say for sure, but it looks like yours needs to shaft towards the cab a little bit.

What does the other side look like?
It also looks like it’s maybe not far enough forward.

i think i know my issue. i think it’s because it’s sitting too low. i don’t have whatever foam tape shown in the picture. also, the brother that sold it to me sent me picture of his truck front bed. guess i’ll be calling a shop later.

Yes, you should have at least one layer of tape along the bed between the cap and bed. What you circled on mine is 2-3 layers that the installer put on mine at that particular location to help seal teh gap where the steel body meets the composite bed. That's a well known location for leaks. He also put a bead of clear silicone caulk in the joint before putting the tape on. The tape is kind of bunched up over the years from things moving a bit, but I thiunk you get the idea.
