It really sucks that you could not do a diners drive ins and dives trip back. That would be cool. And tasty.

If this is at all out of the way, I do not recommend it. Traffic is usually pretty rough on the Tap, while not nearly as bad as the GWB. And I think Philly has the least well organized highway system with the worst signage that I have ever experienced. Also, to get from 84 over the the Tap I believe you’d need to take 684 out of southwest CT and into NY, which is a highway with pavement worse than any dirt road I’ve driven on. Craters the whole way, not a fun drive in the least. I’ve driven I90 as far as Rochester, NY and I’d much rather do that than head south from NH. I don’t remember there being a whole heck of a lot to see, but that’s not too different from going 84 through CT/NY, and there was far less traffic.

This.^ I-84 to I-81 (Shenandoah Valley) to I-64 then pick up I-70 in St. Louis for the home stretch.

I was going to suggest this instead of 287(Tap Br.) if heading south. I84 through CT is nice except for Hartford and Waterbury but those are pretty quick to get through. West of waterbury and especially Danbury, it really opens up. From there down to 81 is a gorgeous drive. I have gone that way to Carlisle, PA a bunch of times, and it’s beautiful. I have also been as far as James Madison U, which is right where 64 picks up, and that really wasn’t a bad drive though I can’t speak to the scenery as it was around 1AM when I got there.

There is NO traffic in new England right now so take whatever route you'd like. It would be cheaper to just get it shipped. I was quoted $900-1500 to ship my truck from CT to WY

I've made the drive from CT to WY 6x. It's going to be boring once you leave the Appalachian mountains until you hit the foothills of the rocky's.

If you have nothing to do take your time and enjoy.

I visit power plants all over the U.S. and have learned over the years that it's the journey, not the destination, that matters. Enjoy the journey no matter where it takes you.

I love it how they listed it as a SR, very nice steal from them. They obviously didn't know what they had. They must of stole it from whoever traded it in.

Sweet truck OP and enjoy the trip. I have done NH to Seattle and back, there are many many great adventure to be had. We zig-zagged, but I-90 was the "home base" for the route. Here in NH is is mud-season or just after, so not the "prettiest" time of the year.

Timely thread. I'm looking for a Limited and find the better deals in the Northeast. So, my wife and I are also discussing road trip up into New England and Maine, then back to Oklahoma. We just aren't sure how easy vacation traveling is during these times.

A good friend of mine moved to Seattle from CT a couple years ago. He took a couple weeks to make the drive with his girlfriend. Truck loaded with camping gear, mtb’s, and a canoe, they stopped at BLM areas all over the place and found places to ride, camp, canoe, etc. They spent some time visiting his parents, who live in Telluride, and got to do some amazing riding there before eventually ending at their new home in Seattle.

Although a bit out of your way I’d pick up Route 66 in St. Louis and stay with it to Amarillo. Have dinner at the big Texan, see the Cadillac ranch then swing right up into Colorado. Bunch of stuff to see in that particular stretch.
