Gotcha. That's good to know. Jarring is definitely the word i'd use to describe how my rear suspension feels currently....

Yea I didn't have issues until I put fender flares on mine. The relocation plates solved all my issues.

What length U-bolts do you need for the new pack?

They meep meep pretty good. Need to take her out on a drive to test them.

Simple and easiest install I've done, just toss in some washers and slightly longer bolt on the drives side and they bolt up onto the factory hood latch bracket. Toss in some basic wiring stuff and you're good.

Debating if I want to keep the factory horn in too or not.

The OME u-bolts fit perfectly, even with the shims (u-bolts still had 1/2 in of threads showing) but it really depends on how thick the leaf pack ends up being, since they custom make them depending on how much lift you want and weight you carry.

I had Alcan make me some u bolts based on the OME specs off their website, but they must have sent me the wrong ones because the ones they sent were about an inch too wide and almost 2 inches longer than the OME ones. I'll shoot them an email tomorrow about it, probably just a mix up.

Was able to reuse my old OME u-bolts for now, but definitely want to get some new ones on before too long.

Although the shims may be keeping it from being even further back, I'm not sure... But if it was any further back it would definitely be an issue.

Oh man you should have done the tailgate handle while you were at it. Then you can have a built in lock and camera (I know you have the popnlock right now).

I’ll be using mine for a sleeping setup so the loss of width with the stepside wasn’t practical for me, and it wasn’t my favourite look either. Feels like it looks like an old Toyota truck from the 80s now with the fleetside, so I love it.

Hoping to not cause a OEM vs aftermarket :crapstorm: storm here.

Getting ready to do valve cover gaskets soon on my truck, already got all those parts. Figured while I'm in there I'll go ahead and change plugs and wires since it's been a few years for them. Whats the consensus for the wires? OEM I can get for $60 and the NGK for about $45-50. I've got the 3.4

I might not even need to replace plugs and wires, got about 50k on the wires (ngk I think) and probably 40k on the plugs, but since I'm right there I'll probably go ahead and change them out.

NGK wires are good to go. They may even make the oem wires.

I think Dakars move your axle foward more than Alcans move them back.

Measure the center of the front hanger bolt to the center pin to compare versus a stock pack. IIRC the measurement is 24"

Did outer tie rods this weekend and changed the driver side inner boot. Not sure how long the boot was torn but the inner rod looked fine. Greased it up and boot the new boot on.

Also decided to grind off the bedliner on the tailgate that the PO had put on. Never liked that look but took a while to get around to it. Started painting as well.
