They shipped me the wrong size u-bolts as well. Luckily we had spare 3rd gen u bolts that had enough threads. Has my mine for almost 4 years and my only complaint they are squeaky now and they have sagged a bit. I need yo figure out how to grease them.

That was the case for me with my Dakars - When I went up to a 32.9" tire, I put in the All-Pro relocation plates to move the axle rearward 3/4"

 

Well I haven't had a pair of leaf springs longer than 2 years at this point haha, so I'll be happy with 4 or more (hopefully more).

Interesting you got the wrong size ones as well...I could almost make them fit if I squeezed the sides in but that seemed like a sketchy way to mount u-bolts lol. Would rather take my chances with my old ones until I get the right size new ones

 

was the all-pro relocation plate to just make everything clear/fit when you went up in tire sizes?

 

Hm, interesting I'll have to try that later today.

Between Dakars, All Pro Expos and now Alcans, I can say that the Dakars and Alcans required ratchet strap pulling on the axle to get the front eye bolts to line up. I never had to do that with the Expos, they just fit right in like a glove.

 

How the hell are you installing leaf springs?

Front hanger bolt would be the first I would bolt up, then the shackle, then just move the axle into place. The axle moves foraward and back with the movement of the shackle, so I doubt two sets of leafs would ever line up the same based on how much downtravel they have.

 

Put the front eye in first, then shackle, then bolt on the axle.

I did just replace the front bushings on my t100 and needed ratchet straps. What pita that was with bushings that were wider than the hanger.

 

I replaced my leaf spring bushings yesterday too. Also added a zerk on the shackle pivot.

I had that issue with the bushings being a bit wider too, luckily they weren't too much wider though and I was able to pry the hanger apart a big with a pry bar while moving the front of the springs up into it. I'm pretty damn sore today though lol

 

Alcan's pushed mine back as well - or, it was further back and I never noticed it previously. Ended up getting a couple new top leafs from them.

Updating the Alcan Leaf Pack

with original Alcan pack and 255/85 R16

Could work, though then with relocation plate and shims...seems a little sketch for Ryan @eon_blue.

At least according to what I measured at the time, OEM was 24 1/8", and I had Alcan move the hole 3/4" to 23 3/8"

 

I've been running shims and relocation plates for years. It's fine.

 

Ordered wheels over the weekend and today I ordered some Bilstein 5100s and rear shocks with add a leaf.Trying to decide between 265s or 285 STT Pros now.

 

With the front eye bolted in first the leafs weren't anywhere near centered on the axle and still had to ratchet strap it into place. Could move it some by hand but easier to wrap the ratchet strap around it and to the frame, then crank it into place.

Dakars it wasn't really necessary but it was with the Alcans, I don't know if they were a bit longer or more arched or what, but it took some serious ratchet strapping to get it lined up

 

yeah that's close to what mine look like after install, maybe not quite that far back. Mine look like they might clear the back of the wheel well when stuffed, but it will be very close.



I'll have to try the floor jack stuff test and see how it looks

i mean, the allpro relocation plates work just fine. They are beef. have two options. Hell of a lot cheaper than getting a new leaf and taking apart your pack.

Have had them for years. No issues, I don't see how they would cause issues and be sketch It's a solid piece of steel haha
