I sold my shares in an index fund and bought a variety of individual stocks for the heck of it. NVAX is one that I picked and it's doing very well today.

I decided the money in the index fund would be what I use to play around and I won't add to it. It's not enough money where I'd miss it if I somehow lost it all. I don't mess with my retirement IRA--that just sits in a target date mutual fund and I add to it with every paycheck.

It might not be the best oil play to tie yourself to. But who knows.

Can I just buy barrels of oil at these prices and store them in a storage unit? That may be the oil play here!

You'll have to check with the State of Colorado, the EPA and maybe your HOA if you have one..

If this goes any lower the steel from those barrels will actually be worth more then the oil that's in them.

I was kidding (sort of). I didn't think about HOA, we have a garage but that might not work. Seriously though, you could flip them if you had a big storage unit.

IK you were kidding, but I wasn't... :D

Trust me, if there was a way to buy actual crude and store it, I'd be all over it right now.

Can anyone explain what happens to USO tomorrow, with "contracts" expiring?

This is far more interesting with SOW discussions with BA right now... :anonymous:

If you were truly flipping barrels of oil, it would be very easy. If you just bought and held onto a bunch, you wouldn't necessarily have to sell at market prices. If oil went up to $35, you could sell at $30, and you'd be able to unload them real quick that way. I have no idea who or how you'd sell them, but it's a good idea.

There’s actually tankers just sitting out in the gulf waiting with oil on board. Barrels are at $4.31, they’re gonna sit out there until it starts going back up. Crazy

Yep. Oils the lowest it's ever been. Ever. At least those tankers have plenty of fuel on board to keep chugging along. They may need it.
