Kicker Hideaway help

Hey everyone. Looking to see if anyone has some quick answers for me on my kicker hideaway issue.
I have everything installed and wires up. But I’m getting no light on my amp for power being on and I can’t figure out why. Below is what I have done.

I have supplied kicker harness connected.

Did not use blue wire (was told by @destin_meeks this was not needed)

grounded black wire to a bolt connected to chassis by back cubby of truck rear seat

ran red wire to positive terminal of battery using the supplied fuse and wire. Did a quick connect on the fuse wire to the remaining wire.

used the kicker kisl rca to bare wire; and then used the 16ft rca to rca as recommended.

Swapped amp fuse out to see if that was the issue and it still did nothing.


I attached phots; but does anyone have ideas why this wouldn’t be working?

 

maybe file down the ground?

edit: If you're using an add a fuse, there may not be enough power for it

 

I actually thought of that ground wire as I look at the picture. I’m wondering if that is paint around that bolt. I’m not currently home so Soon as I get back in a Few I’m gonna try that

 

Seems silly but make sure fuses are good and properly seated both wired and fuse on sub. And yeah, ground should always be to bare metal, not painted.

also, did you set switch to DC since your not using remote wire?

 

Try scratching black paint away from ground?

 

I have now sanded down paint. Grounded wire back down; still nothing. I am at a loss

 

Have you tried disconnecting the power from the amp and see if you have power coming to the power wire near the amp at all?

 

I’m going to the store to get a volt meter to see. I was trying to avoid having to go out to Lowe’s by troubleshooting here. But no luck

I checked al fuses to ensure none were blown.
I disconnected harness entirely to make sure no connectors were loose or wires incorrectly.
And I sanded down the paint area where the ground wire is being bolted down to to make sure paint didn’t interfere with the ring connector. map far none of this has worked so I need to test the harness for power.

 

Yes I did each of those.
I grounded the wire to the chassis under rear seat.

so it’s ring connector to bare metal, bracket for rear seat, and the bolt to lock all of it down.
Is it possible the bracket (which is limited) being on top of the connector is causing the issue?
I thought that since the connector is still to ruching bare metal; the bracket on top wouldn’t affect anything

 

I thought the blue wire was needed between the Pwr amp and the head unit.(remote switching) But don't take my word for gospel. I am a known knucklehead.

 

Unknown knucklehead here, i also thought you had to have remote wire

 

Well I spoke with the installer who’s been helping me and he confirmed I do need that wire. He forgot I had an aftermarket head unit. So I’m currently getting that wired up!

 

Whoever told you otherwise was wrong.

 

the hideaway has two methods for turn on:

1) +12V remote (blue wire)
2) or sense voltage on the speaker line (no need for blue wire)

However #2 only works if you are using speaker level output. Because you are using RCA jackets it's most likely you are NOT using speaker level output, so you'll need the blue wire.

 

Yea that’s what I came to the conclusion on. I ended up getting power to the amp once I plugged that wire in with the red (just to see if amp itself was bad)

now I’m just wiring it up. I found the remote wire to my pioneers harness to wire up to (blue and white) but the power antenna wire is currently wired with those.
Can I wire al 4 up together or is that too much.

What’s the status man? Did you get it fired up?

 

I did! I ran into some small inconveniences but with the help of @destin_meeks we got it all figured out. We ended up confusing each other a couple times through communications and so had a few changes. But he was awesome and I plan to do another write up for everyone with credit going to him for all the assistance.

 

While I didn't need to talk to him directly his old posts made the install of mine a breeze. Was a huge help.
