The injector cleaning cycle is code in the ECU that determines the amount of injection required based on time, mileage, engine temp, amount of previous injections, etc.
I did not modify this code.

    What I modified is
    1. the coolant temp triggers for when the port / injection split table should be ignored
    2. The port injection / direct injection split table activation (RPM v Load)
    3. The port injection split % amount on this table.
    4. The amount of time (s) for Catalyst warming

If you want me to change the injection cleaning cycle
    1. intervals
    2. time
    3. amount %

    I can do this.

I think I'd rather leave it the way you feel is better. You have better control over AFR as you said, doesn't that make more sense?

If I have zero plans of driving my truck this week...30 miles tops..

Should I go ahead and flash to 2.0 or should I wait for more feedback and possible changes?

Have the day off and could load it up today no problem, but have no immediate need to do so.

Also my flash manager states I'm running 1.3.3. I see no way to load back to 1.3.0. possible help there?

What is VFTuner? Why is there no handheld programmers/tuners available for a truck that is 4 years old. I don't understand the Tacoma scene. Lol

I've been doing this stuff for 13 years, mostly Jeeps, but I have got to say Tacomas are weird.

Not exactly mod friendly. I just did my CMC and welded in a front plate, and even that is crazy. What was Toyota thinking?

When you figure it out, let us know lol

lots of stuff doesn’t make sense, especially as you go deeper. Overly complex and thrown together

tuning is still fairly new on the second gen trucks too... third gens needed it much more. It’s made a huge difference.

This was likely mentioned but if you get "Completed unsuccessfully" when trying to flash. It is safe to ignore it and flash anyway. I had to do it a few times and then it went right on through. Freaked me out for a minute there. Defender turned off, OBDII selected to my Virtual Machine and all. Luckily just opening and clicking flash was totally fine. Also managed to reset AT and LV that way.

Going to have to get some miles on it now. It was not happy starting up after all that! Haha. It actually nearly failed to start up then idle was all over the board but appears to be normal until it settles down.

I'll take it for a spin later today or tomorrow and should see improvements. Looking forward to the 3/4 fix mostly. Otherwise been quite happy with the beta .

    20200420_125907.jpg 20200420_125939.jpg

Curious why it does this though. It identified each time with the betas and no changes to my VM that I know of. Shrug.

So just to make sure I am downloading the right files, if I am running 265/70R16s I should stick with the stock file, even if the listed diameter by the manufacturer if 31.2”?

    I have no clu.
Per Toyota, this engine should be doing both modes based on load&RPMs.
My data shows only one mode under low load&RPMs.
    Thanks

There graph is just a general image. I think the same graph is used on the 2GR-FSE and other D4-S variants.

The actual Table in the ECU does not have the mixture like that graph.

And that table is only used under certain conditions, not always.

It's just crazy. Where is the after market support? Like COBB access port?

Or Superchip Flashpaq for my Jeeps?

    Is it just more difficult?

Toyota ECUs are notoriously more difficult than other markets, for several reasons.
There is no available data for aftermarket companies to use. So everything must be done the old fasioned, and hardest way.
No A2 files are available, so you must map out the controls, by hand.
The bootloader control is not robust. 1 flash mistake, dead ECU.
The code itself is ridiculously complex, convoluted, and compiled in such a way that makes reverse engineering much more difficult.
    etc etc

Order 6353 for me. I opted to keep the dongle though due to being in Canada. It would take forever to get there and I'd rather have a fully functional kit for $79 US.

So very true. The modern quote went from “It is what it is.” To “Hurry up and wait.”

Flashed 04B04+2.0+Base+91+OL+31+-+33T.p5f today (2017, 04B04, 31.5 BFG tires, otherwise stock), reset AT/LV and let it idle for a bit then drove just under 30 miles.
After the first 7-10 it settled down as it started to sort out new learned values and I like it A LOT. Obviously it needs a few hundred more miles to really settle, which may take a while in the current environment, but my initial reaction is really good.
Keep up the good work Mat!
