My battery is giving up on life and I'd like to replace with something better if you guys have recommendations. I'd spend more time researching but just had to get a jump and will probably need to pick one up locally. If I can fit something slightly larger that will better power my lights or winch that would be preferred, I have the stock tray so I know I'm a bit limited. Thanks!

I am using a Northstar group 27 AGM using the stock tray and cables. No lights or winch on my truck, but it happily powers my ARB fridge all night long and starts the truck up in -30 Celsius weather in the winter.

find out the size battery you want and go to advance auto website and purchase it to pick up in-store. there are 25% off coupons all over the web for online purchases you can pick up in-store at advance auto parts. I have saved a boatload of money doing this the last few years. The coupon codes won't work in the store so you have to purchase online and then go to store to pick it up. I have even made the purchase on my phone in the store before and then went to counter and got the purchase. here is a coupon code that should be good until 5/1/20 for 25% off YAM3BX

Battery threads are like oil threads in that everyone has an opinion.
First you do not want a deep cycle battery as your vehicle starter battery. There are numerous reasons which I won’t go into now.
You won’t necessarily get longer battery life from a high end high priced battery. I base the following suggestions on over 40 years of buying batteries for dozens of vehicles and my experience. For your truck get a 27 series not 24 series battery. Get a Costco or Walmart battery. They almost always last 5 plus years. You can get these batteries for under $100. At 5 years dump the battery (Even if it is working fine) and get a new one. Cost wise it works out to be $18 per year or less , that is damn cheap. Replacing it every 5 years you don’t have to worry about it failing at some in opportune time. No hassle, no problem, easy peasy.

Most decent deep cycle batteries run between 250-400. Northstar is the same price as this one is around $360. I also need the cold crank capabilities. Do it once do it right. Not to mention the diehard platinum 31M which was very popular was more

Yea but I dont want to have to worry about it fail. If it was a regular truck I would do that but I take mine offroad and have a 2 week trip planned for later this year using lights and accessories as well as a fridge. Overkill? Sure but I would rather have something that has been tested and something I dont have to worry about.

Its like saying why did I shell out the money for a Warn winch as opposed to a HF winch

Any battery no matter how much $$$ you pay can fail at anytime. Probably unlikely your battery will fail but as it gets older chances of failure increase. The warranty doesn’t mean much 50 miles from the closest town. When I go off road especially if by myself Or no other vehicles I carry a second battery as backup. Have never had to use it as a back up but feels good knowing it’s there. I do use it to power auxiliary devices but it’s also there if I need it to replace my main starter battery. When I head out to the boonies for several days I carry a lot of shit, so an extra battery is nothing Compared to all the stuff I pack along.
I’m not trying to quarrel with you, if you feel good with the cost of the battery and it suits your purposes then go for it.

I already have a secondary battery that runs some of the other equipment I use. If you have a spare carrying around its dead weight.

Thinking of the autocraft silver at advance using that coupon, looks to be about the only 27f they have.

O'Reilly Auto Parts 2 year battery. Replace it every 2+ years. Everything is electric on this truck, good battery a must.
Personally, I would not run a heavy drain device like a refrigerator on the truck battery. Make a portable solar power system to run appliances and electric devices.
