I got a warn evo 10 through discount bandit. Best deal I could find. Really like the winch.

Easiest: Sumosprings. I had them on stock suspension before I upgraded everything. They work great under load. Installation is simplest out of all the options by far, as they just replace factory bumpstops. If you get the right kind, your ride won't change much at all unloaded. If you get bigger ones than recommended (this is what I did - SSR-610-40), you will get a bit of a lift and a back-end bounce on speed humps, but can carry a LOT more weight without sagging.

Best: Airbags. They can be adjusted to fit the load, but you need to also add OBA to have them be easily adjustable on the fly. You can pump up and air down with a bike pump, but that's way more hassle than adjusting a regulator in the cab.

    Other options...
    • Helper springs (Helwig or Super Spring) are cool because they don't affect unloaded suspension much, making the most effect when loaded. They'd be a good cheap option, but can result in limited flex offroad if that's something you care about.
    • Adding a leaf will increase the spring rate, so you'll squat less under load, but it'll be a harsh ride without load because the springs are at the same rate regardless of load. AAL is NOT a solution by itself. You need to couple it with better shocks, because you're dampening a higher spring rate. Even then, your ride will probably still be harsher unloaded. Some people get away with AAL without anything else - but they often are loaded all the time, so the effects of less dampening and ride harshness aren't noticed as much.
    • Dakar leafs or another leaf pack is just like AAL. Again, it's not a solution just by itself, you should also get shocks that can better support more spring rate, and unloaded it'll be harsh.

My truck weighs a lot - I was around 6k on the scales last time we took a trip. I rode on factory suspension with sumosprings when I first added my camper top and armor. Shortly after, I got a full fox kit, including Dakar leafs, and kept the sumosprings too. I've had that setup for a couple of years and ~30k miles. Now that I have OBA, I'd go with air bags instead of the sumosprings, but I'd definitely keep the Dakars and upgraded shocks.

Anyone want to do a winch install sometime this week? Going to be the GA guniea pig for the new Badland Apex...

My exact thought was "Why wouldn't you spend $10 more for a known winch?"

Do you guys know if the camps around Charlie's Creek / Tallulah River Road are closed off? I know the actual campgrounds themselves (the ones that have hookups and grills) are closed, but what about the primitive sites?

I will call my buddy that lives in that area and ask him. He rolls thru there almost daily.
