Thanks man. I think it's not the sun but the heat difference maybe. I have blinds that I close over summer due to trying to keep the heat out as well.

I went with mirrored reflective film. Keeps the sun down and helps with the heat, even with dual pane windows. There are still wood blinds as another barrier.

Supposed to be a great window company. I had friends that worked in the Simi factory.

I need to set two 4x4 posts in the ground for a freestanding treehouse. One thing says not to set a pressure treated post in concrete, the other says use the concrete tube form with the post in it. We always set 4x6 posts for fencing directly in concrete, but the last time I built fence was probably 20+ years ago and I think the chemicals used for pressure treating are different now. I’ve seen the anchors that you set in concrete then attach the post to the anchor, but they’re just galvanized metal that will rust out over time.

So my question is what are you all doing when it comes to setting posts? I’m leaning towards using the tube and setting the post in it.

I’m pretty sure but not 100% no idea why water would be behind it as it just a
Faces my lawn. No pipes or anything in the wall. The house just has bad insulation as it was built in 1966.

finally tore down the ugly 80s sunroom and made the roof a patio cover again.

    Before
    [IMG]

Walls gone, cutting and getting the 4x4s ready.

I didnt have any fully finished pics as the day ran long because we set it all up then decided to change out my slider and ran into some termite damage above and below the slider. So we had to repair that as well.

I have the sunroom and slider parts and debris still on the side yard and will be bringing home the dump trailer from work then ill take a cleaned up pic. But heres the idea. HUGE difference.

next up is getting my scrape away from the office and get all that cutback off from the previous owners brilliant idea to carpet the crappy sunroom.

I did use garage door weather stripping across the top. Looks great and doesn’t get rolled inside when the door is going up.

Wall scanners. Who's got 'em? I'm looking at either an Android FLIR or Walabot or, if not obscenely expensive, a purpose built unit.

    https://walabot.com/diy

    https://www.pcmag.com/reviews/flir-one-pro

    Etc.

NEED: 1932 house, primarily plaster and lath, some knob and tube in non-GFCI areas. Some of it may be abandoned. My Zircon is detecting AC in places there should be none.

We bought the house last summer, I intend to die here, we have a lot of work to do, I don't want to fuck around, but also don't want to dump a wad of cash unnecessarily.

    @OZ-T @23Skidoo @any other pros.

I have one of these, it doesn’t discern between objects, just that one is there, but gives an accurate reading of its width. You’re obviously wanting something more robust.

Has anyone tried any of the Bosch scanners? They range from $60 - $700. I’ve been happy with their laser level.

The Bosch laser tape measure i have at work is amazing. If the quality is the same for other tools, the scanner should be good, too.
