I got a small one of those, BIL gave it to me. Very cool. I've been impressed with their gear in general.

Yeah, but I'm probably gettgin abtou the same results from my Zircon multi. It has a current sensor , but not a pure AC only mode. They have another step up theat does, and I've done all the calibration stuff. But I've never had such a challenge handing a fucking towel ring in all my life! LOL. I swear there is fire blocking in there too, and lath and plaster (nails in the studs, you'd think that would be easier...).

I think I'm at the point where I really need to remove the sensor margin of error and pin point a spot to see behind the wall, and this will only be the first of many.

Fuck that, it was just redone before we moved in, it's beautiful and age-appropriate, but there's one fucking towel bar, and it's the only bathroom on the bedroom floor.

How about one of those wifi endoscopes? Last year I started getting random free stuff from Amazon (apparently part of a ratings scam, best I can figure) and an endoscope was one of the items. The one I got has such a shallow focal point (about 2-3" in front of the lens) that you can't see shit but a better one would likely be better.

Worst case, if you decide to go that route, you only have a small hole to patch.

I'd rather remodel the laundry room, part of the kitchen (remove an unused chimney) and wall to the nook. And counters. And stuff), add a master en-suite, and build a new garage. By the time all that is done, I'll likely be dead.

Go by feel, hit the wall, then use a trim nail to confirm, be gentle, or spend $1,700 on a scanner.

Yes yes yes. That can often work when you can feel the difference of the nail bouncing on lath versus going between the lath...and knocking out keys. But there is a slight bulge in this area of the wall that significant alters the usual acoustic pattern, and I think this wall may actually be drywall, or this drywall over plaster. And the electrical weaves through my 8-inch target area in a way that requires precision to avoid the seemingly omnipresent Romex from the adjacent light switch. I took my best shot, tried an auger drywall anchor, and the material behaved like drywall, then stopped early. Hard. I cleaned out the dust and I think I actually hit the head of a nail or screw. Then I said something like "&@#^)*%&$@!@$%^%^^^&9845@" and abandoned Towel Ring Target Zero, opting to install one of the new 24" towel bars high on the wall above the existing one (with which the new one will need to align vertically), where there was no reason to suspect electrical. I start scanning up high on the wall and get electrical again right in the target spot for the left end of the bar.

I believe I had a beer open on the porch 2 minutes after. Or maybe I set fire to those fucking rose bushes first? I can't remember.

Now, much of the house may be like this. And I have much to do. And time is money. Etc.

I put some gravel in the hole then set the posts. When it says fast setting concrete, they mean fast! It was solid in about 30 minutes. I’m not too worried about being up to code, I’m gonna claim it’s not a deck but a playhouse for my son. Problem is, I just started pricing slides, $200-$450. I’ll have more money in the slide than the entire 8’x8’ platform.

After looking at prices, I've decided that it is far too expensive (not worth it for this old fence) to stain/seal the fence, so I am just going to use the 30 second cleaner regularly to keep it clean.

the back yard fence line finished ( see quoted for what it looked like before):20200414_181102.jpg
