Any updates? I was about to purchase this and figured I would check for any reviews. Can’t find many for the 4.0L.

What is this you speak of? Is it more snake oil or does it actually do something?

I currently have the Volant with the ram scoop. No issues, noticeable better response. I plan on changing things in my engine bay and the Volant has clearance issues that cannot be fixed. I figured this intake would be comparable.

Yeah I’ve heard that their spacer makes a whistling noise. I also planned on only running the dry filter, but it unfortunately charges you for both in this package.

If you aren’t needing more air for forced induction then I doubt adding the $120 scoop would benefit you much at all. I’m very leery of the throttle body spacer vortex thingy but I am not N/A so I don’t have room for it with a Tundra throttle body and adapter. I never liked the oil added to filters so the pro Dry S was it for me. I also run a pre filter and so screen mesh since I don’t have wheel well liners.

675 bucks for a bunch of snake oil.... gotta love it. You coulda bought an HPTuner, and a tune for that and actually made a difference.

Throttle body spacers havent done anything to power/fuel/mpg since the long lost days of Throttle Body Injection.

That's exactly what I was thinking. I'll keep my Pro Dry S filter

The stock intake and stock filter flows enough for a stock SC'd setup... its way more than adequate for a NA setup.

That's why my first post asked if this was just more snake oil?

Oh here goes the rant. I’m not going to the drags every weekend. Nobody said anything about performance gain, except y’all. I’m looking to get rid of my Volant due to fitment issues for a radiator. I’m looking for alternative intake options.

So how much would a stock intake and an HPTuners license cost?

Don’t worry about Rick, that’s he literally has 50,000 posts. Do your thing. Performance is measured in different ways and not always on a dyno. The stock airbox is fine for what it does but it does also limit options when trying to move stuff around. The AFE works with my CSF if that is the route you are looking to go. It won’t accommodate a SLEE underhood compressor bracket but no issues with the radiator. As far as HPTuner goes, it transforms your truck in my opinion. Not significant on a dyno for N/A but incredible for driveability and enjoyment. You have to have a tuner, but you would need to mail your ECU off if not. If you get the tuner for $300 then credits are $50 each and you need 4 for the Tacoma. After that, you have unlimited tuning access and can even have folks, @JustDSM or @nd4spdbh provide you with some incredible tunes for next to nothing.

If you mail me your ECU for a tune, You’re looking at $250. I can also supply pretuned ecu’s for $400. This would allow you to save/retain your original unmodified ECU. As @zippsub9 mentuoned, if you wish to buy your own flashing hardware, you can get setup for $550 for the hardware, credits and tune.

Thanks @zippsub9 thats exactly what info I was looking for. Plan on going SC, but not for a couple more years. I hope that’s enough time to get into the whole tuning world :spy:
